I don’t even bother trying to crimp with seating dies and the FCD from Lee is well worth the investment.The RCBS does crimp, that's what I run, however it is easy to crush some shoulders when setting it up. I think the FCD may be a better option.
Ordering the FCD from Lee is a pain. It should be noted however that you will need a press that can take the 1&1/4” dies….. such as the Lee classic cast press.
As for the stockpiling of components- Gathering a mass of components is great, but let’s not ignore the importance of LOT NUMBERS!
components(especially powder) can differ from lot to lot, so when I bought my .470 and confirmed the load I bought 8lbs of powder, 1,000primers & bullets.
Point being - I think the consistency of components is just as important as quantity.
