Welcome Mike!
Lots of reports here to research, I have no idea how your going to get through them all... Fortunately you have a couple years!
Depending upon your budget, some very good advice offered already. I would not want to take away from those suggestions.
For some of the wilder areas, you will pay very high daily rates but potentially lower trophy fees, perhaps much lower. Be sure to analyze the over all cost... When I went to Zimbabwe, I was excited to add lots of PG to my DG hunt as the prices were very low. However the opportunities just were not given me to take them.
To see the most game, it is hard to beat the East Cape of South Africa.
For great buffalo hunting and still lots of game at somewhat reasonable cost, look into the Limpopo region of RSA, but stick to large properties. If you are willing to hunt in a fenced area but a very large one, I think a lower cost option that may come close to what your asking could be at Spear Safaris main camp right near Kruger. At least that was the best combination of great buffalo hunting for the cost I could come up with this year. Definitely great buffalo hunting with lots to hunt through. Very good kudu and blue wildebeest, you will see lots as well as many other species and will likely take them as opportunity presents itself while hunting buffalo. We not only heard but saw lions, however you should inquire as to that for the time period. I thought hearing a hyena roar was even more special! You will have great food, hunt in an old school open truck with a somewhat old school PH. With the right timing and request could probably be the only hunter in camp. Not an area for Gemsbok but great waterbuck and lots of zebra. And if you get your buffalo early enough you can move to another camp for other critters. Or just take a day or several to visit Kuger.
Have fun planning!
