Looking for a good place to stay in Windhoek, Namibia on the day of arrival. Something charming, safe and convenient, but not touristic. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Hi Safari Chick, I have never been to Namibia before and I need a place to stay on both sides of an elephant hunt this October. I arranged my flight through Gracy Travel and they recommended Onganga Pension in Windhoek. I have since made arrangements with them. Their web site is Hotel-Pension Onganga, Windhoek, Namibia and they are very good about replying to my email. The price is very reasonable and I believe it is off the beaten path. May I ask if you are going on safari? Hope this helps.

Hi Safari Chick.....I have only stayed at the Kalahari Sands when I was in Windhoek. It is a nice hotel. I read something about the Grellmann's having an overnight resort for traveling big game hunters near Windhoek, but don't know anything specific about it. Perhaps Jerome would know something about their place.

Safari Chick, The place that Kelly is referring to is by Windhoek International Airport, way outside of the city and not in Windhoek itself. The Kalahari Sands is conveniently located in the center of Windhoek, near shops and restaurants. Lots of hunting clients stay there because of it's convenient location. It is a nice American style hotel with an African style casino, the rooms are decent but prices are also American style. If you are looking for something charming and well located in Windhoek (three blocks from the center of town) I would recommend the Londiningi Guest House. It's a nice bed & breakfast owned by a really friendly French lady named Nathalie. They have a swimming pool, nice outdoor area and a great breakfast in the morning. Some of their rooms are better than others and the better ones are very nice and the price is right. You can check out their website at Longiningi B&B - Welcome in our oasis garden in the center of the Capital. for more details and prices.

Hi SC,
I have never been to Windhoek, but am going this May for the first time. A friends wife, from Canada, travels there extensively. She always stays at Hotel Pension Eros. That is where my wife and I have booked rooms. Convenient, safe, well priced and nice people. This is a website for them: http://www.wheretostay.co.za/hotelpensioneros/
If you want their email address, let me know.

I stayed at the Kahalari Sands Hotel once, and didn't particularly care for it. It's located inside an indoor shopping mall, and the entrance is on the second floor. I've stayed at the Safari Court Hotel three times since and I find it very comfortable, with a friendly staff and a good restaurant. The price is much lower than the Kahalari Sands. The Safari Court has a shuttle van that will take you into town for shopping and sight seeing, and then return you to the hotel at no charge.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
