Pistol Cartidge Reloading - My ongoing Journey

I have a lee 1000 piggy back from the 80s it works well for pistol 9mm 30 carbine and fairly fast with the case drop auto prime and powder drop for the money it has done very well have a Dillon in 308 without to much extrasit kinda just sits there.a duel ram herters a single c&h and a rock chucker.i did buy a Lyman hand primer which did not work starting out and a new lee hand pime which is the way to go in the first place.

I have two Dillon Precision 550s, set up for small & large primers. I can do around 500-600 rounds an hour

.44 Special is one of my all time favorite handgun cartridges, so much you can do with it from extremely accurate target rounds to pretty heavy thumpers if needed. I've loaded with Unique for 45 Colt and 44 Special for a LONG time, but for my more moderate level loads I switched over to Trail Boss. I think it meters better than Unique, and because it fills the case so much it isn't position sensitive like Unique, and obviously it's impossible to double charge.

I also like using High Tech coated bullets for those calibers that I don't cast for. They're clean to handle, and don't seem to lead the bore. If you're in the U.S. I think that Bayou Bullets are about the best.

Best regards,
Thanks Monsai.

I think Acme in the UK do Hi-Tek coating. Might be worth thinking about.

Scrummy

I load 44 special in several different handguns. I use a charter arms bulldog, Ruger GP100, and Uberti Callahan. I have a couple of different loads from trailboss and Missouri hi-tek 240’s to unique and 250gr RNHP’s. My favorite has become SNS casting coated 210gr RNFP with unique.
I’ve also loaded some hot loads with 250gr WFN for use in 44 magnum chambered pistols. I much prefer the 44 special to the 357 magnum or even 38+P. It doesn’t seem to hurt my ears as much (even when wearing ear protection)

Love the 44 Special. Skeeter Skelton's writings got me hooked on it and I still have the Ruger Old Model 357 that I had converted to 44 Special over 40 years ago. I have always shot 250gr KT bullets over 7.2gr of Unique. Unique, 2400 and H110 have covered all of my revolver cartridge needs from 32-20 to 454 Casull.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
