I actually like the contrasting look. I doubt it’s as orange as it appears in that picture. probably natural leather color. It will darken. And can be darkened if you like.

Impossible. Can't bring elephant hide to the UK, already discussed sending one of my panels there.

I opted not to buy a gun case from Rigby . I was able to pick up a virtually untouched Greener case in very dark red leather - with keys / and good lock . I have blue baize for lining it and a current Rigby leather trade label . I already have another large frame 500NE and I know the case has the depth / length / width to easily fit a Shikari 500NE . I have the other original Rigby case accessories . Thanks for the pic it helps me with my layout for the case .

One thing Jerome mentioned was that with the gun in hand the fit is exact. Even if they were to make it later it is not like the gun is molded into the case. Not to mention I have an extra barrel etc..

I'd get it finished naked, then have it clad in your elephant hide here in the States. I know someone that does excellent work if you want to send a PM.

I agree, the orange leather is just not right. Any dyed leather always looks a bit off, sort of hand-bag ish. contrast that with natural tanned leather which is a darkish brown and shows it's grain, it just screams class. It also ages so well.
Gray elephant hide would look terrible, and brown again looks dyed.
as to the inner colour the dark green is nice, but so is the red. my cases are very low key compared to what you are after, but colour wise here are the two so far. The beauty of these Alpine cases is that they cat take airline and bakkie back abuse, leaving your beautiful leather case for more respectable travel/display.

I am not sure Steve, but if you can find one jump on it. They come with foam and you then cut out your shape, but I think a double deserves a custom felt fit. The finishing on these was done by Natal Gun Company, and it is very precise and snug.
I don't like breaking down a double, there is too much chance for dust to get onto that critical hinge pin surface, especially out in the field. And I have seen many stocks marked from gun racks and the like damaging them through a cover. The Alpine is the solution; your precious double is perfectly safe banging around in the back of the dusty pickup, and immediately available when you need it. Ni zips, no scratches, no dings.
These cases were made especially and are smaller all around to just fit a double.

Either way, it is for presentation purposes only, you will not be travelling with such a case. You could then do the following:
Have an Americase as your actual travel case.
Go to Zim, shoot an elephant. Have the panels prepared.
Go to Zim again, and have your Americase with you. Leave the Americase with the taxidermist at the start of the safari, who covers it in your elephant leather.
Pick it up at the end of the safari and travel back.

If in cost-saving/time-saving mode, you could also use a panel from someone else's elephant.

Someone on this forum has done something like this (don't want to repeat his name however, not to bring unwanted attention).

I don't think Americase is making custom gun cases anymore? I have an awesome compact double take-down case they made for me in the early 2000's that's been on a lot of flights. I tried to order one for a take-down bolt gun 3-4 years ago and could not get in touch with them. Read elsewhere back then they are out of the gun case buisness.

You can't arrive in a lot of countries with anything from an elephant.....it would be seized by customs
