What's some opinions about the Interarms Mark X 458wm? A local store has one for $950. The stock is a Hogue overmolded with the aluminum pillar and bedding. Does have the express style sights on it

I am a fan of the Interarms Mark X. They are very good actions and offer a great deal of value for the money. IMO, $950 is a little on the high side, but not unreasonable. You will be getting a solid rifle for your money.

I shot it in 375 H&H.

Usable.
In original factory version will need fine tuning, and improved fit and finish. bolt polishing, trigger lightening, maybe feeding etc.

If you are a fan of CRF system for hunting or fan of Dangerous game hunting with CRF, take it.
It is copy of original mauser 98 design and after market Winchester style safety can be bough and installed.
458 WM and 375 HH by zastava and branded by interarms are built on medium length action which also results in smaller mag capacity, 3 rounds in mag, and rifle is a bit on light side, and a shooter can feel a bit of recoil. But big boys should not cry over small things, ;)

Where is the best place to look for a Winchester style safety?

New England Custom Gun, and Gentry. Dakota used to make a 3 position safety as well.
One of my favorite rifles is an Interarms Mark X Whitworth, with the 3 leaf Express sights.
I have owned 4 and still own the .458WM Whitworth. The original wood stock fits well for me.
The actions often are a bit rough, but polish up very nicely.
In my experience, 458s feed better than 375s.
Good rifles and accurate.
My gunsmith has built several custom rifles on these Zastava actions and likes the steel used.

I would like to find another wood stock for it. The Hogue is nice and does have the aluminum style block bedding. The nice wood stocks just look better to me.

By the time you address the safety and add a wood stock you will (likely) find you could have purchased a better rifle for less money.

The rifles are generally good. Maybe you can make the store an offer if you think it is a little expensive. If you are wanting to get a wooden stock and change the safety, you may end up spending more than the rifle is worth.

I have been searching for a while now. Issue I'm finding is people with dreamers prices. The one I want is a model 70 458wm supergrade post 64. I'm not willing to pay more then $1200 for one since it's push feed. People have a mindset of thinking they're $2k and up rifles. I've seen several for $1500 and they've been sitting for a long time collecting dust on the shelf

Yikes. I saw one around $2000 on GI that was new today at a Cabela's somewhere. I don't follow the PFs closely, but my first reaction was it was a good price as listed. Good luck. There may be one out there in your range eventually.

I've been watching the prices for a while now. Newer ones that are now CRF I believe are worth every penny of $2k or more.

If memory serves, about 2011 to 2014 when I was planning my first African safari, Cabelas has some special run Cabelas model 70 Winchesters in 458 Win Mag. They were new model 70's with CRF and if you can find one, it would be worth owning;)

If i wanted one. I'd look into the above mentioned in case it is one of those.

Gunbroker item # 1098799425
It's $1600 with a leupold scope that's worth 350 to 400 so pretty close to your number if you are OK with a push feed. I didn't realize a 458 was so expensive these days.

The Zastava 98s are solid rifles. I have two, a 30-06 and a .375 H&H. They were imported as the Interarms Mark X for a couple decades, then Charles Daly for a couple more, then Remington 798. While $950 is not a bad price, you could probably find one with a wood stock if that is your preference for that price or a bit more if you are patient.

Good question. I live in europe, and look at other resources.

N delta custom is in Serbia:
(Scroll down to "kocnice DAKOTA")

Then others:

etc etc

I would say Recknagel from Germany should have best distribution globally of the three. Delta costum from Serbia is answering the emails. Thye may distribute to your place as well.

And I am sure, there are other options around. Mauser 98 is widely copied and cloned rifle, should have back market parts in production and supply chains.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
