One more for the Canadians

Amazing.
Departing the country I have had ONE person look at my firearms inside the case. A US Customs officer who did a cursory inspection.
You guys must be special, or maybe I am.

The customs officer in Vancouver General noted that my bolt was installed in the gun and said "Funny you made it this far.... next time - remove the bolt" . I said "Yes sir."

I usually come and go through Montreal and the bolt is always in the gun and it is trigger locked. That is Canadian law and Customs can't make up their own laws much as they would like to.

I get checked by US CBP every time (Montreal on the way out and Atlanta on the way home)and all they are interested in is the export documentation and serial number verification.

BTW I use a combo lock on the ammo box and only once in Montreal did they ask for the combo to check it. I figure it was because I had some rounds on plastic sleeves not boxes and they looked different under X-ray

We are booked through Luthansa , but flying through Air Canada. I cant get a straight answer on how the ammo is handled from either one. Is it checked baggage or carry on???? Thanks in advance

As far as I know ammo is never allowed as carry on

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
