on a lighter note...

When I was hunting in Sonora Mexico, (a drug running and pass-through area for illegals coming to the US.) we would have to use the cattle farm gates. By day 2, I was opening and closing the barbed wire gates to allow the guide to drive through. One spot had a fire "pit" and a bunch of garbage nearby. An overnight spot for the illegals. Day 3 a plastic bag showed up sitting on top of the ashes. My guide said, "Jeff go see what's in that bag." My response, "F YOU You go see! It's probably a head!" The morning of day 5 the bag was gone...

I have a co-worker that was born in Monterrey. When I came back from that trip and told him where I was, his response was... "You got a F'king death wish!? I 'm Mexican and I won't go to that part of Mexico!" Yeah, not my best idea...
I grew up between Tucson and Nogales, and yeah I’m always shocked when people book those trips. I’ve known too many people who had family or themselves have a run in with the Cartels to ever go back into Sonora. Hell, I’ve had several run ins with “coyotes” on this side of the border.

You were smart to leave the bag alone.

My kids always left Santa beer + chips and salsa. Totally not kidding. I told my kids that Santa needed a break from all the sweets and milk.

We did the same thing, with out the salsa. But my boys always called beer, "root beer." Sometimes it was Wild Turkey. The boys had a little cup for Santa, bout the size of a triple shot. Great memories.

I think the guide was just seeing if I would have done it.... Saw Cartel activity, saw illegals, got chased by a truck, and got stopped and searched by a Humvee full of heavily armed Federales... I flew into Tucson. We crossed in Sasabe. Never again.

Sounds about like what we hear out of Burkina Faso. I don’t need to do any hunt that bad!

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
