Not considering Africa anymore

I dont think idiot is the right term.

But there are absolutely people who seem to impose a roadblock on themselves every step of the way in life.

I’m just an average guy in the trades, I used to do very affordable float plane fly out trips up into Quebec and was always looking for a few guys on job sites who’d want to go.

I’m talking all in for 8 day less then 750 bucks; cabin, boat, food, license, flight. I’d even drive and never ask for gas money as I was going anyway.

I cant tell you how many guys dropped out with just weeks or even the night before because they didnt have the money.

What a bunch of sad sacks. Every excuse in the books.

Its why I do every trip solo; and have zero interest in even a local day fishing with anyone.
You've got that right! I don't take folks on my boat again if I hear one time, "when are they going to start biting; can we go back--I don't feel well, or I'm tired," or whatever. Current fishing pal accidentally fell out of the boat--it was 40 degrees with 49 degree water. I said, "man, I hate to go home--we were going to get some big ones today." He said, "Why are we going home?" Because you are going to freeze to death with hyperthermia! He said, "I've got my coat on and life vest zipped up and a toboggan that didn't get wet--why don't we fish and see how it goes." We fished until he dried out. That's the kind I want on my boat. Heck, we take drinks and snacks that never get touched--too busy fishing!

BTW...would love to fish Quebec.

Well, OneDay (always worth listening to) was right about those airline credit card miles. You're going to buy gas and groceries anyway. Pay it off at the end of each month and you'll have your tickets in no time!
IMO, the worst mistake is to put off saving for the trip, whether young or old, good times or bad, rich or poor. We can all literally "Elon Musk" ourselves to get rid of waste and abuse in our personal budgets. The fraud is what we cheat ourselves out of by not working the plan.

Quebec doesn't have anything to offer that you can't find in Ontario ... except people that talk funny. :D

So, what happened to OP?

The credit card flyer points scheme seems like good advice. I need to look into that. Just make sure the card purchases are budgeted and paid for on time. +20% interest is a killer! Thanks!

Hello there. I’ve been wanting to introduce myself personally & chat with you about hunting Nilgai. Give me a call sometime…

Best,

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
