No frills double

I don’t know much about double rifles other than I want to own one at some point in my life.

I want a no frills, not fancy, working man’s double. I know they are still pricey but I don’t want to pay for anything ornamental. I am unsure on a caliber but it will compliment a 375 ruger and 458 Lott. It has to be capable of accepting an RMR.

What options would I have and what are the going rates for them?
SoVa-I have an excellent DR I am will to part with and it would include dies, brass, some factory loads (Hornady), Extreme Ammunition loads by Lance Hendrshot (A-Frames & Barnes solids), 50-Swift A-Frame bullets, and RMR mount by JJ Perodeau. JJ has installed a mercury recoil reducer and milled the rib to accept his RMR mount. Rifle is rock solid. Made in 1956 by Fabrique d’Armies Unies de Leige. It is known as a guild gun. Neutral cast good for righties or lefties. I just purchased my ‘Grail’ gun (Rigby 450 NE) so I no longer need this one.

See the rifle in action here-

I live in VA as well. If interested, DM me. I. would also be willing to let you shoot it first before negotiating purchase.

If anyone else is interested; Will trade for Rigby Highland Stalker in .275 Rigby or .30-06.

I haven’t watched the video yet. What cartridge?

Very nice!!! I just got my Rigby 450 NE back from JJ this morning!!!! Looking forward to shooting it with 0.5 inch regulation at 55 yards done by JJ.
Mine just arrived at JJ’s this morning. He is going correct the cocking and ejector timing.

These posts always scare me a bit. Sure everyone wants a Double and does not want to break the bank. This is understandable. We just had a post with one of the cheaper doubles not closing for some reason. My point is that if it is to be a DG rifle it has to function 100% correctly. The aforementioned advice to take any new or used double to JJ would certainly give the needed piece of mind.

Just listed on GB but, will consider offers from AH members.

@Longrifle, Don't just link to GB, if you want to offer your DR here please post your firearm for sale in the Classified section of AH. My best, Jerome

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
