"Being respectful goes without saying, but that is a separate issue. We should all be as respectful as possible when engaging those unfamiliar with the hunting lifestyle as you suggest. We also need to be as educated and informed as possible on the issues that support our claims. I also feel that is paramount to lead the conversation whenever possible. Passive and submissive is not the answer. Educated, informed, respectful, but assertive and proactive in our arguments is the way forward."
Hi BSO Dave,
I totally agree.
The delusional Anti-Hunter will never open their eyes and pull the bubblegum out of their ears.
And so, any attempt to discuss facts with them is like trying to teach a pig to sing.
You will only wear yourself out, and it annoys the pig.
If hunting did not exist, I promise you they would not waste any time inventing something else to be angry about.
However, it is my opinion that when conversing with the Non-Hunter who, does not care either way because, he or she is simply interested in spending their energy and pay on other things (like worshiping sports "heroes" or weeping over the latest TV Mini-Series, for instance), I sincerely believe it is our responsibility, to not use crude / low brow language to describe our lifestyle.
The best way for Hunters to make casual listeners jump to the conclusion that all Hunters are simple brutes, is to use brutish language, such as a proverbial "drunken sailor" might do.
Furthermore, having been stalked by a loony before, I would not recommend posting anything, hunting or otherwise, on such a broad spectrum outfit as "Facebook" and so forth (Perhaps I'm just a fossil - whatever).
Cheers,
Velo Dog.
