Does the front sling eye barrel band cover the ‘W’ in W.J.Jeffery on top of barrel?

Unfortunately, many of these rifles cannot be imported to the USA due to the stripper clip cutout, which defines them as Milsurp sporterised rifles, which are banned!

Many thousands of commercial Mausers have the thumb cut and stripper clip slot and if they are in their original configuration and have commercial proofs, they can indeed be imported.
Not all Mausers with the these features are military actions.

Was the 8mm-06 ever a thing in African hunting? Used to have a 8mm-06AI that was exceedingly accurate with Hornady `198 grain bullets.

What’s really interesting to me about the .333 Jeff is that its ballistics with the 250grn bullet are virtually identical to the same-weight bullet in the .350 Remington Magnum - the world’s first short-action magnum.

The .333 Jeff made its reputation with the 250grn load as a good all-around “medium caliber” for African plains game.

And the 300grn Jeff projectile @ 2200fps is pretty close to what I got out of my 20” model 660 handloading Hawk’s 300grn .35-cal bullets over Varget.

The stock could definitely be a replacement, or poorly refinished and the checkering was removed in the process. I may get it checkered if I can find someone within driving distance to do it.

I hate reading about the Cogswell & Harrison. That’s just terrible and shouldn’t have happened. C&H made fantastic rifles and I’d love to find one I could afford. Do you recall what caliber it was chambered for?

Similar thing happened to me when I was stationed in Korea. I came home and found my Mom had sold my Ford Bronco without even asking me. I guess the lesson to be learned was pay for storage. Don’t trust anyone to store something for you.

I think she did you a favor. There's a reason almost none of those old Broncos are on the road today. Like the early GMC Jimmy from that era with first full time 4x4. Those also never lasted long but sure ate a lot of gas and tires before drivetrain eventually expired.
