Wow what a beautiful place.Welcome to AH!
Thank you sir. I have heard nothing but great things about cruisers. I can't wait to see your pics and hear the stories. This will be my first trip across the pond to hunt. I've had some people tell me not to take my 26. But then again they also said to take a 270 or larger. That explained a lot. It's good to hear you hunted with it over there. I love the 6.5s so I went and had the 26 built. It's a one holer. Are you using anyone as far as the gun permits etc? I emailed rifle permits. They came highly recommended of a lot of people on this site. Is there a certain airline you recommend as far as less hassle bringing your rifle. Thanks and great luck.Welcome sir, I too am going on my first safari with Cruiser in August of this year. Have fun preparing it has been a blast thus far. Just booked my delta flight last week so it is getting very real. I am a 6.5'er myself, the Nilgai in my profile pic was with my 264 hand loaded with 140 Nosler P's.

That's great news. I'm just seeing all the options. Im.not sure if.im going to use a clearing agent.or not. Can't wait to hear the stories.Awesome I will be taking my journal and doing a full report on my return.
I agree with the 6.5, I am taking my 30-06 with 200 grain Bear claws, although I know that my 6.5 would kill the Kudu and gemsbock, a friend of mine has both on his ranch, along with Nilgai and he says nothing is as tough as Nilgai and I've taken two large bulls through the shoulder with my .264.
I am not using a clearing agent as one of the guys in our group is on his 3rd trip with Cruiser and never has used them and never had a problem.
It's just slammed elk. IAwesome I will be taking my journal and doing a full report on my return.

Welcome Britt, I hunted with Cruiser on my first trip to SA in 2012 and I was not disappointed, Pieter runs a first class operation. I was lucky enough to take my Limpopo spiral slam on that first trip, they have some amazing animals on large properties. We used Highveld to do all the taxidermy and shipping to Canada and other than an expediter here they did everything else. No issues with their service although there have been some isolated reports on here about problems that others have run into with Highveld. I personally would not have a problem with using them again. We have stayed at Afton over multiple days and they are top notch as well, they can also expedite your firearms for you.
The first time over I took booth my 7mm and .375H&H, the 7mm was plenty for most of the game but retired it when I went after the Eland and Kudu just didn't feel comfortable that it would get the job done.
Anyway please PM me if you have any questions or need anything further.
Good luck and can't wait for the hunt report.

Use this resource I spoke with @Shootist43's son Art and it was extremely helpful. Alot of great people on this site.Britt, since you are new to the site I didn't want to confuse you by suggesting that you PM me for additional info. But since you are already aware of the PM feature of AH feel free to PM me as well. Via that medium I'll give you my phone number and we can talk if you like. Several AH members that had previously hunted with Cruiser offered to talk to us, so I'm just passing along the favor. I hope to hear from you soon.
