Newbie from Germany

Hello to everyone!
Been a lurker here for years. I really like the spirit of this forum. Hope to hunt in Africa one day, preferably with my own rifles. Am hunting here in Germany with some older relics like Mannlicher Schönauer model 1908, several Models M98, M66 and elder shotguns, mostly SxS.

Welcome aboard Dirk. Having hunters from all over the world is one of the things that make AH what it is. Hang on to those "old relics" of yours. Most here would agree that even though they are a hundred or more years old, they don't get any better. What caliber are they? What have you hunted with them?

I'm a hunter for about 30 years, so there are more than two or three animals in my book. So let me just list some of the guns:
Musgrave 98, 9,3x62,
Sauer 80, 7x64,
Mauser 66 full stock, 7x57,
M 98 full stock, 7x57,
M98 Gewehrfabrik Danzig, 5,6x57,
Sauer Drilling 7x57R/16,
Krieghoff Drilling, 7x65R/16,
Remington 1100, 20,
Miroku 1886, 45-70, and some.
Obviously, there'a a lack of double rifles!
Once I'm grown up, a double rifle in 9,3x74R will reside in my gunsafe. Westley Richards et al. are a bit out of reach. But Merkel or Verney Carron, Heym or Krieghoff could perhaps be manageable. Sooner or later...

I was born in Rheinland-Pfalz. Lived near Diez/Limburg till the age of 20. Miss the woods and hills (sometimes) but the flat north has it's own character and joys.
