I recently read a travel article online that Australia and New Zealand were starting to reopen in July 2022 to many tourists, but with many restrictions like a 10 day quarantine upon arrival. I guess its a start and about time to start researching possible flights in the distant future.

Maybe the NZ and Australian hunts will restart in 2023 and/or 2024? I am cautiously optimistic as my outfitter is still actively communicating and I am not getting younger. Best regards, TheGrayRider.

Until there is no quarantine and no vaccine requirement I will not consider them open. Testing is bad enough. Time will tell. I’m going on three safaris this year and to hell with the countries that want to tell you what to do with your body.
no I’m not opinionated.

Scott Morrison says February 21st for Australia. In his press conference he stated "must be double vaccinated" about a dozen times. There's talk today about requiring a third.

Neither of these counties will be open without the vaccination for a very long time, if ever.

Such a shame it’s that way. Good luck finding evidence supporting the need for these vaccines now.

I may be wrong, but I suspect they’ll cave in the not too distant future (1 year maybe) to allowing travel without vaccine proof. Eventually it will just be ridiculous and no one cares any more.

It's a sad thing, Australia is the most beautiful place I have ever seen and my favorite thing about that big damn island is the people that call it home; truly the salt of the earth and I am grateful to have been able to visit it BEFORE covid; and even then I was surprised and shocked at the amount of control the government exerts on the citizens of Australia.

Example: Carrying a pocket knife without "due cause" is illegal

“The problem with Australians is not that so many of them are descended from convicts, but that so many of them are descended from prison officers.” Clive James

It certainly has become more of a Police State in NZ last 3yrs after the "Mosque Shooting" & now a lovely Virus power trip for a Socialist Government & it's Horse Faced leader !

Yes it will be slightly opening in July but only for New Zealanders from Australia who are at least Double Vaccinated & they can at this stage self isolate, it didn't state how long but was meant to be 7 days .

Then in October New Zealanders from other counties, same, but I think you can try from other country's but not sure on the self isolate as the government would not trust you !

I don't understand why the people in general have so much fear, Women the most crazy on this here

I had Covid March 2020 & was sick as Fuck, but knew I wasn't going to die, but others & people I knew (women the most) went bloody insane .

As a citizen of the planet there are things we just have to do to get on in life & get things done, I believe getting a shot or two -three is one right now, I don't care if others don't want to .

Buy try getting into a lot of African countrys without proof of Yellow Fever Vaccination & some for TB - Smallpox (mostly gone now) .

Oh almost forgot, I have had Tens & Tens of shots & Vaccinations for various things (had lots of things to & vaccnations are better) but the Yellow Fever knocked me on my Ass & cost a fortune to, God I think I need a booster on that to now !

This is driving me & half the populating mental, I suppose now if any of them read this I will get a visit from the "Stasi" kicking my door in & taking my firearms !

I agree 100% with you and Clive James. Times have truly changed. In the summer of 90, my best friend and I surfed and hunted in Queensland. When we would hit the beach or rifles were in the backseat of the Hilux. I would still be in prison if that was today. Heck, one time we ran low on funds (no atm in the area) and traded Levi 501s for room and board. As for salt of the earth, New Zealanders are in the same group.

You’re not alone. I vote with my wallet. Only vote that matters. Covid-Crazy and Covid-Corrupt states/countries won’t see a dime from my family. I have a long memory too.

Opening my eyes to a lot of great hunting opportunities here at home. Wild trophy bull bison in the badlands! Because I couldn’t fly thousands of miles to hunt I found the best hunt of my life just a five hour drive from my home. No longer need meat so Texas Aoudad is next on the list.

There is always something to hunt. I booked AK for a couple years from now.

I agree with your sentiment and hope it all ends soon. However I do have to say in international business class mask wearing is optional.

Australia is opening up I about a month. The caveat being to be regarded as fully vaccinated you have to have your 2 injections plus a booster (total of 3 injections). If you comply with this you are free to do whatever your little heart desires. Western Australia is a rule unto itself and won't even open to other states within our own country.

Ah those were the days but I regard the Hilux as the 243 of the 4x4 world, would never have one because I don't fit in on comfortably. I still travel with my rifles in a padded case on the back seat if my Nissan 4x4 without issues

@Philip Glass
I agree as it is hard to get to Namibia again I have booked a scrub bull hunt in North Queensland for next year as he is already booked for this year. We will see how the Whelen goes loaded with 275gn Woodleigh PPSPs. Will be fun. The son is going to use his 308, a mate will use his 444 Marlin and if @CBH Australia can join us as he wants he will probably take his 375H&H. I can see a lot of good hunting, sitting around the camp fire, a few drinks and a lot of bullshit and good natured banter.

If you're chasing scrub bulls with the Whelen..... you'd best have good health insurance or a mate backing you up with a 9.3 x 62. :A Popcorn:

Where did you "Acquire" the Woodleigh projectiles? What are your sources? These are like Rocking Horse poop and Hens teeth, even in Australia. Who are you?
Half a chance your telling the truth, the Bob I know probably bullshits around the campfire, Mmm, could be him.
Keen as mustard if I can swing it, and I will try.
Disclaimer, I do have some Woodleigh Hydro's in .375 and I'm not parting with them. I only have just enough to develop a load and do some hunting.

This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
