Thank you.

I gotta do one of those FE Outrider trips!

I enjoyed reading about your experience and purchase. Congratulations !! I doubt I will ever hunt with a WR rifle, but did just hunt with a bit of their gear, a cartridge belt slide. For my first African trip buffalo was my focus, and I needed a proper way to carry extra ammunition. After tons of research and online shopping, Westley Richards looked like the best option. Expensive, but worth every penny ! Their attention to detail is evident even in their leather gear. I am anxious to see pictures of your rifle.

Towserthemouse:

I think WR should read the thread here and hire you as a salesperson. You have really given me a brainfart to order a WR. I am 56 and wouldn`t be lovely to recieve a WR doublerifle at the age 60?.

I am really happy on your behalf. You will have many good years with that doublerifle. THe .470 its a caliber you can shoot when sitting in rockingchair at old age smoking cornpibe popping annoying loggerheads in your pond.
Congratulations!!...

@rigbymauser thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. I had a chuckle about the image of the corn cob pipe (yes I actually have one LOL), the rocking chair, and shooting turtles with a 470 Nitro Express! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Thank you for sharing your experience, if I make it to England WR and Rigby shops are on my list to visit. You will be getting a dream double! Very happy for you.

Over the years in looking at the classic English shotgun and double rifles WR is always right up in the top 2 for me. Well outside my budget but they are really a pleasure to just take in the beauty and appreciate the workmanship involved in building them!

Congratulations.

Thank you @AZDAVE I really appreciate the kind words. They say that friends and those with good intentions are happy for you when good things happen, and those with lesser intentions are envious or jealous, not necessarily happy for you when something good happens. Some people are actually rooting for bad things to happen to others.......

Sorry for the ramble, but I can say that all the good wishes and positive messages I've received about this thread show me without a doubt how many folks are on this forum with good intentions, truly happy for others when something good happens. It's very wholesome, and it's a great example for me to live by as well. So thank you very kindly, sir!

Well, I have more photos to share. These just came in from Trigger, and they show the rifle in the white, with the splinter forend showing the horn tip, the scroll back action, the red rubber pad, and the wood...... have to say I'm pretty happy about how this is shaping up!

That is going to be an exquisite rifle!

When did you commit to the build. How long has the process been to date?
It was mid August of this year (2024). But the rifle was already in process, so that is saving a lot of time (story above). Short version is that I was VERY lucky.......

I’m sorry, I read it. I forgot You actually bought an employee project in the works.

It would be hard to resist the temptation to ask for it as is

I would say you were very lucky and smart to look around before committing to a 2-3 year project.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
