@doug 3006.Just closed the deal on an addition to my collection. A Ruger #1 Light Sporter in 303 Brit. It will go to Africa some day and serve as my light PG rifle. Maybe leopard if legal.

@Bwana BobI recently picked up a secondhand, but virtually unused, Ruger No1 .303 here in the land downunder. It was already fitted with a Leupold 1.5-5x VariX-III which is a good choice, in my opinion. They really are a lovely little rifle and it makes an interesting companion to my Ruger No1 .405 Winchester. I am guessing that the Ruger No1 .303 is probably a lot more common here, because of Australia's history with the .303 cartridge, than they would be in the USA but they still only come up for sale occasionally - they are either rare or rarely sold by their owners (I think it is the latter case). I still haven't shot mine but hope to do so next week.
Worth every cent!@Bwana Bob
I think they only came into Australia on special order. At the time one gunshop was taking orders for them, from memory we only got something like 150 of them.
If you got yours with scope for less than 3,200 bucks you did well. I looked at on that they wanted 3,000 for the bare rifle. To much for this black duck.
