Yesterday I was given a gift of one of the best finished pocket knives i have ever handeld.

A friend in my church makes them and the finish is superb. He is also on instagram.

My knife has black giraffe bone scales fonoshed of so the natural colour comes through. Edge is 18 degrees and it is sharp enough to shave with.

That's a sexy knife! Do you mind sharing his Instagram so we may see his other works?

Beautiful little knife

Very nice work. Is this our Marondera friend?

Good one. What steel did he use ? Can you please ask him if he makes Barlow pattern knives? With ivory handles ?

Steel used is N690 and RWL-34. Barlow pattern knives are certainly done.

Are there locks to keep the blade open?

Hi Ray, slipjoint folders dont have locks. They are however stiff enough tonstay open or half closed without risking injury. You can not compare it to for eg Victorinox or Wenger, both good knives, but not at all stiff enough to remain open.

An expert like Von Gruff can maybe elaborate.

The slip joint or friction folder relies on good knfe sense but was the only type of folder for generations and the majority of people use (d) them strictly as a cutting or slicing tool and in reality makes for a very good knife with the only down side being the need for 2 hands to open and close. Wear can make them less secure in the half or fully open position and this is where a careless use can cause the knife to close in some use situations.
The various locking mechinisms make the folder almost afixed blade while it is open and the knife can be used as such (usually )with complete safety. Be aware that any locking mechinisn can fail so the main advantage of the likes of the frame or liner lock is that it can be opened and closed with the hand that will use it so there is a free hand to hold whatever is needing to be cut, whether it is an animal to be dealt to or vegetables to be cut from the garden.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
