New Ruger No. 1 .25-'06

Did load development for rhe 25-'06. A 115 grain Nosler BT and 49.5 grains of IMR4350 yields a five shot group of .56" - adequate, at least. No chrono work yet but I am pretty confident it will do what's needed.
Yeah I would say a half inch 5 shot group is adequate! I used that same bullet in a .257 Roberts to dump a nice Montana lope some years ago.
I dont remember the load but it clocked at just over 2900 fps.

Sounds like a winner. What did you do to get the scope positioned correctly? No. 1’s are pretty challenging from that POV.

Yes they are. I had originally planned on a S&B Summit (2.5-10X 40) but it did not have enough eye relief. I asked John McLaughlin, who did the metal work, to move the front sight block about 1/2" to the rear, which he did. Still not quite enough, so I went with the Leupold VX3HD 3.5-10X for a bit more eye relief. I'll put the S&B on either the 280AI or the 308 Norma Magnum that are being built now.

I did find that my scope needed help to print low enough on the target, so I shimmed the front ring .004" and I may go another .004" to get some 'slack' to sight for 275 yards.

Fun project. Pete Mazur did the metal finishing and it is very nice. Here's a recent 5 shot group... still a bit of work to do.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
