Just noticed that Nightforce is trying to bust into the mid range scope market.

SHV | Nightforce Optics, Inc.

It will be interesting to see how they stack up against the competition and if their claims of not cutting quality hold true.

They are running between $1100 and $1350 up here in Canada.

Has anyone had a chance to check one out yet?

John

The NXS line is great I own two and abuse them regularly. A little on the pricy side but you always have the comfort in knowing that if you ever run out of ammunition you could beat a moose to death with them and still hold zero.

I wonder if these new SHV sopes will have the same durability.

I have had one of the 2.5-10x32 NXS for about three years and I love it. I got mine with a velocity 600 reticle mounted on a 300 win mag. The scope is bulletproof and with this reticle I have no doubt of my ability to hit my target out to 600 yards. I also made good use of the lighted reticle on a Leopard last year at 9 PM at night and it worked great. I find this scope to be more than bright enough for any of the hunting needs that I have including early and late in the day. I also like the smaller objective but then again I don't like anything bigger than 42 mm anyway. I've never been a fan of the big scopes and I have never felt shorted on by my ability to see my targets. I did have one of the Nightforce 5.5x22 for just a few months and I didn't like it. It was way too big and for hunting I found the higher magnifications to be too much. I think that 10 power is perfectly adequate out to thousand yards and I have tried it quite a bit. I'm fortunate enough to live only 4 miles from my shooting club which has a very nice thousand yard range.

thanks to both of you for the info. any idea on the price of this scope over that side of the water as i have a sneaky suspicion over here they will just remove the dollar sign put it up a bit then stick ï½£ sign in front.........

They are around $1400 - $1600 here in Canada depending on whether it has zerostop and looks to be about the same in the States.l

yup just as i thought , with the vat tax removed to ship to jersey that scope is the equivalent in sterling of us$2,200.00 and in uk tax inc is us$2678.00...........think i will wait to next sci to maybe get one.....and if you want the mildot or mil-r its equivalent of $130.00 extra.

Anyone have any experience with night force scopes on big bores?

Does .50 bmg count? I have a good friend with a .50 that has worn a nightforce for years. No issues to date.
