Hey everyone, I am a new member here. Started practicing law last year and I am dreaming of making it to Africa to hunt Cape buffalo.

I have never hunted before so looking for tips to get started here in the states. Probably going to hunt for whitetail this year.

:S Welcome:

Good day! Welcome to AH!

If you want to start hunting in the US and get your feet wet to see how you like it I would start with small game.

Go squirrel hunting. Also, Turkey hunting is starting up, so I would try to get a tag for that in MN or maybe WI, or even go further west and pay an outfitter to go do that as they are usually cheaper hunts.

The reason I would start with things like that is because the cost is much lower and generally people are more willing to allow access to their land if you want to hunt on local properties. Also, they tend to be very abundant animals and you can get a lot of practice and enjoyment even on public lands.

Welcome. I'm a bit north of you. My suggestion for getting your feet wet is take up bird hunting. MN has tons of water and waterfowl. You'll get a lot more action.

Welcome and welcome to hunting!
