@BrowningSafari

To be truthful, I haven't handled the .458 much. I've certainly never shot it. I seem to recall it having the Mauser-style bolt, but I don't have it here in front of me. It's a few hours from where I am at the moment. Next opportunity, I'll check and report back.

Welcome aboard!

Sounds good Bryce. I’ve been planning to write a paper on these rifles, compiling data for some time now. This is one of the variants that is curious. I appreciate it. While you’re handling it, if you wouldn’t mind noting the suffix or prefix to the serial #, which indicates year built (usually a single digit followed by the letter L or L followed by two digits) that would be great!

Greetings everyone,
Just wanted to stop and say hi. I hunted plains game in Zimbabwe with Butch Walker back in ‘99 and then marriage, kids and life in general kept me hunting primarily stateside. Now I’m getting restarted on my African quests with a trip to SA this May, and then to Botswana in ‘27. I have long appreciated the insight and wisdom found in these pages and am happy to have finally joined the AH party. Thank you in advance for the help I will undoubtedly ask for!

Best of luck to everyone his year - stay safe and have fun.

Darin

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
Ready for the hunt with HTK Safaris
