All members, we once upon a time a new member making a first time post. Their first post usually goes along the lines of “Hi I am Jake from Texas and am looking forward to hunting Africa”. That is great.

Then as a Sponsor the first post new member wants to buy a expensive hunt, from their posts you feel that they have little knowledge of Africa. Another trait they want to come in the next few weeks. After we answer their questions. We start to ask them a few. That is usually the last you hear from them.

We have successfully weeded out at least two recently.

Lon

Good to know they are being weeded out. Appreciate it.

Lon,
Glad you weeded some out!
I have had several in last month call the shop referring to AH and asking for special pricing on Swarovski. When I ask there forum name they hesitate and then say.
Not a member yet, but saw your posts and wanted to check. When I say it's pricing for registered members only, they hang up.
We have to weed them out somehow.

Really enjoy your posts Lon!

I know there are a lot of trolls and antis watching this forum. I’ve had good PMs with new members though. I’ve asked a few questions and usually thought them legitimate. It’s been individuals looking for references on an outfitter I’ve wrote hunt reports about but want to find references not provided by the outfitter. I’m cautious with new members but don’t see a reason to exclude them if they can pass some simple tests. Hunters are pretty easy to recognize. There are several participating members I have my suspicions about.

There were a few but have not noticed any recently. But are you suggesting highly active long time members that would fit that description?

Hunters are generally pretty easy to recognize. Shooters on the other hand tend to be rather nebulous. I have found many members here to be extremely helpful and often quite entertaining.

There have definitely been some on the Politics thread. Long time members with sizable post count, but only here to troll. They come and go, not every day active, but hang around enough to be annoying ... I haven't seen as much on actual hunting threads, usually more new members with 1 or 2 posts then gone and never heard from again.

There are also members who only hang out on the Political thread but contribute nothing to hunting sections or have no intention to hunt Africa or never been there.
I stopped posting there as the whole place became an echo chamber basically.

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
