I dont see any talk on here about it, lots of them on GB, also an100 year anniversary model with 22" bbl and no sights.

I was surprised to see these just now.

They are generally quite nice rifles. I think the .270W exclusive model may be a bit of a turn off for the AH crowd. (not casting shade on 270, or 30-06, but they are very popular common calibers so they get less attention)

I'd point your attention to the latest Lipsey's exclusives for the Ruger #1 as well. The 22 hornet in a full mannlicher stock, the 257 weatherby, and the 275 Rigby light sporter are also pretty interesting configurations.

I already have a good shooting .270 in a Mauser. I just wondered what the AH crowd thought of it, being everyone is always hoping for something less pedestrian. The .280AI was an odd choice, but those that have them seem to like them and they are quite rare now.

The Whelen is probably the most popular, except for the .275 Rigby version. The No. 1 in the Rigby is very popular but hard to come by for any kind of price and rare.

I just yesterday, made an offer on a rare Whitworth in 7x57 and it was accepted so will have that on the way before too long.

Only one I have ever seen in that caliber, it was part of the rare American Field series of Whitworths, my brother had one in .30-06 many years ago, a fine rifle.

Pics of the 7x57 when you get it. I have three Whitworths and really like them.

Holy shit that hornet is tempting

I saw the 270 African the other day. I don't have an issue with the 270, but I think it's and odd choice for this rifle considering the previous calibers like 275 Rigby, 35 Whelen, and 9.3x62. I guess the 280 AI was an odd choice as well but at least it's unique. There are so many other, more exciting calibers that just scream Africa.

+1 for pics of the Whitworth 7x57. I have two in 375H&H, but have never seen a 7x57. Color me curious.
It will be weeks before I have it in hand, but in short, it looks like the African version except the sights are Williams and not express.
This particular rifle has a side wing safety added with different bolt shroud and a different recoil pad.
Otherwise its a Whitworth with the same receiver markings, barrel band front swivel and the rest, 24" bbl.
This one's SN is a bit later than my .375, the one in my avatar pic. But I will post up when I have it.

Must have the push button magazine floorplate release then instead of the earlier model inside the trigger guard magazine release?

Nope, early like my .375. My Zastava .270 has the push button type, which I actually like, almost prefer as there is less chance of hitting it and having all your rounds in your pant cuffs.

Once during a sporting rifle match I was shooting a tang safety Ruger 77 with the button inside the bow and did exactly that. Fortunately it was in the sitting stage so they didnt go very far, I scarfed them back up post haste, reloaded the offending rounds and cleaned the target. Booyah!! Bada boom!
Won the match too, ah those Halcyon days....

I would prefer they would do a John Wooters tribute African in .416 Taylor. He took that cartridge to Africa in the early ‘70s and took a great lion and buffalo with it.

I have one of the Hawkeye African in .280ai (not an “African” caliber but a great one) and .375 ruger. One of the biggest reasons I’d be interested in one, aside from being partial to the m77, is the iron sights. I’m guessing, aside from the Hawkeye African, there is not another factory offering these days with factory iron sights on a .270. I like a rifle with iron sights.

If I were looking for a .270 it would be top of my list especially with a walnut stock, ebony tip and barrel band.

The .270 interests me, but I'm currently pondering what I believe is an early '50s FN chambered in .270 Win.

BTW guys, Graf and Sons has lots of 7mm bullets on sale and .275 Rigby ammo is on sale for $49 a box, limit 3.
Recently it was all over the place on GB and elsewhere but always over $50 a box, some well beyond.

I was hoping for a .30-06 or 7x64, I really like the 24" barrel with open sights and barrel band on the African series. I have the 6.5x55, 9.3x62, 35 Whelen, and the Sports South 300 Win Mag in the African. I have not been able to find an affordable 275 Rigby (which I was just told was the only version that was actually limited to a run of 250).

I do not think Ruger has ever made a M77/Hawkeye .30-06 with a 24" barrel.

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
