New Here looking to get into hunting Africa

Greetings Dublinpiper90,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

When you get around to it, let us know a bit about yourself.
Also, I invite you to have a look into the Khomas Safaris website.

Last but not least, the .375 H&H is my favorite hunting cartridge.
But having said that, the advice EXECUTIVE HUNT AFRICA is excellent.
I recommend you consider that advice as the beginnings of your planning toward a first visit to Africa.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Good afternoon, I’ve been looking into someday going on safari and taking game that Africa homes, I’ve also been looking into a starter rifle so I can start getting a custom to and learning how to handle and use the rifle correctly. I’ve never fired a Dangerous game rifle, I’ve had lots of experience with a .300 wsm 12ga 3.5 turkey loads which I feel like has a decent amount of recoil, I’ve look at the Winchester model 70 .375 HH and the CZ 550 in the same caliber and the .416 Rigby, I definitely want to ask people in the know about this, also my apologies if this the incorrect place to ask the question.
Thanks in advance
Get a .375 and get started!

Welcome to AH from Grahamstown, South Africa.
Glad to have you on board.
Best regards
Marius

Good day @Dublinpiper90 welcome aboard. Your 300 will het the job done on all plains game. Should you want a big boar grab that 375, they are comfortable shooting and will kill anything Africa can throw at you

My personal best

Welcome to AH. YES 375 H&H is an allrounder for Africa. If you dont get it now you will get it eventually . So why wait. If you plan on hunting in Africa more times you will for sure get other calibers. Start with the 375 H*H.

Trying to be a bridge between Eastern and Western schools of conservation.
From India, based in Hungary.
Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
