New here from Alberta

Ok seem like it’s all arranged Turkish air to Toronto ground to home using same broker as last 5 times .
It one of the big five that causes the mixup and Turkish airlines can’t forward by air to Calgary because of the Cape buffalo so ground it will be if crate small enough maybe canpar lol.
Will update as it progresses over the next month it usually takes..

Glad to hear it's on its way at least!

Welcome to our forum Cam. Good luck on your taxidermy and the transporting of same to your home!

NICE!
Where were these taken?
Who were the outfitters?
What cartridges and bullets did you use and how did they perform?
Gee I’m nosy! Really I’m just interested and always trying to learn.
Thanks for sharing!

What are you looking for as far as a "report"? Basically a diary of my trip?
I have nothing but good to say so far, but TBH I'm a little worried about my mounts. I chose to have them done in SA rather than being shipped home (Alberta Canada) and done here. Yes, I will admit that cost was a major factor in that decision. I've read a lot of people's comments on here recommending against that, and saying the price difference isn't that much. But they are from the US. Here in Alberta the price difference was huge! Also wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with the taxidermist in SA that is going to be doing the work? (Umlindi)
Big mistake IMO. Having had two mounts done there I would never ever do it again. This is a highly popular subject here with numerous threads, and the vast majority opinion is bring them home!

Had 30 some done so far no problems you just have to be very specific on what you want and expect.
From 6 different trips
Now shipping can eat a big chunk out of wallet as there are few options if one of the big 5 in shipment.
Toronto airport terminal fees are absolute ripoff they cost more than airfreight from Johannesburg.

I’ll go against the flow. I shot the biggest buff I will likely ever take in one of the reserves open to Kruger. Nico van Royen Taxidermy in Limpopo did a pedestal mount. It is the most impressive buffalo mount I have seen. The lady who wrote the taxidermy chapter of Peter Flack’s buffalo work, Katerina, did the work.

Both I and a friend have had work done by Collett’s out of Bulawayo and Pretoria. It is outstanding.

Cam,
Glad to see another Albertan here. This is a great site and have read so much great information. Pics and videos are great too. One of the best forums I have ever been on even if your not too interested in Africa. Cheers

Yes.... I'm not sure if there's many of us on here! You're right about this site..... I'm really enjoying it!

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
