Hello,
I stumbled on to this site while researching a couple of outfitters. I am impressed on the amount of information found here. By the way, I hail from Kodiak Alaska.
Hi guns68,
A very warm welcome to the AH family. I have no doubt that the members here wil have all the necessary information to help you plan a successful trip.
Enjoy your stay.
Welcome,
Well you stumbled onto a good source of information.
Start reading and certainly asking questions.
Look forward to your stories from your trip.
Hello,

Welcome guns68, I think you'll find this a great place to start/continue your research for an African safari. Lots of experienced hunters here, so please ask any and all questions you may have. You can't gather too much information when planning a safari, but you sure can collect too little.
If you find time to post some hunting stories and pics from Alaska, I'm sure it would be welcomed!
Welcome to AH! Phoenix Phil is correct...you can never have to much info when it comes to planning a trip like Africa! Enjoy the planning and I look forward to hearing all about your trip next year!
Welcome to AH. I have been welcomed to this site just a few days ago, and, I am enjoying it immensely. You ran into a good source of info, and,... into a great bunch of people, who love hunting.
By the way, I used to live in Anchorage for a couple of years. Did quite a bit of hunting when I lived there, but never had a chance to get to Kodiak.
Welcome again, buddy.
Welcome to AH. Good place to come to. You are a member of a good organization, good man.
Hey, I used to live in Anchorage for a couple of years, and, I've done some hunting in your wonderful land. But, I never got to step on a Kodiak Island soil, which I do regret. How does it feel to live on Kodiak?
Wow, Thanks everone for the warm welcome! Brian, you in Homer? that's almost a stones throw away. Mike, right now living in Kodiak is chilly and icy. It's 27 F with about a 1/4 inch of ice and the wind is blowing 20kts. Pretty typical for this time of year. About the best way I can describe it a quote from a book I read years ago "you come up here in the summer and you think you could live here for the rest of your life, but come March you would give three years of your life for a weekend out of town". Like anywhere else you take the good with the bad.
You live where they film Deadliest Catch.... I just love that show but would not like to live there in the winter! Anyway enjoy planning your trip and dont hesitate to ask questions.
I'd suggest you check out Wintershoek Safaris; give Wiaan van der Linde or Strauss Joardaan a buzz. Good company, great bunch of guys, excellent hunting; I've hunted with them several times.
Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!
I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike
