New guy from PA

Welcome to AH! Seeing mentions of Johnstown, SW Pa, @Andrew62 in Deep Creek Lake makes me feel a bit nostalgic this evening. I live in Arizona now with strong intentions of moving back to Idaho. But I grew up in Maryland. Had it not been for the high cost of tuition, I would've attended Penn State. Spent a few day skiing at Wisp Mountain in MD, Blue Knob in PA, and Seven Springs. Pennsylvania had terrible roads back in the day, but a beautiful state otherwise.

Good day! Welcome from our side too!

Welcome aboard!

Hello all, I am a long time lurker and brand new member here. I have found myself venturing onto AH forums in search of info regarding rifles and different cartridges and hope to travel across the pond one day on a hunt.
Welcome to AH

Roads were still terrible when I left in 2016!

My office looks right out onto the face of Wisp Mountain ski resort. I sold my motel and restaurant last November, after 5 months I got bored so I took the President of the Chamber of Commerce job for Garrett Co this past May. Now my job is to go to functions and speak BS!! lol

Hah, the last time I went skiing at Wisp a snowstorm moved in that morning. My friend's car had about 10" of snow on it when we left in the afternoon. My parents were beside themselves worried. We headed home driving thru that snow. Just west of Cumberland the snow had turned to rain as the elevation dropped. You may be familiar with the long downhill stretch of the old highway (no interstate back in 1984). We were headed down that hill in what we thought were now clear if wet conditions and were all good.

Nope!!! The rain subsequently froze and we were now on black ice. I fell asleep but shortly woke up and as I opened my eyes the world was spinning, actually the car was spinning. We slid off the road, but fortunately not too far. I was able to push the car back onto the highway and we eventually made it back to Montgomery County (outside of DC) without further incident.

My dad who was pissed off at me that morning for doing this knowing weather was coming in had actually went up to Thurmont, MD for a church function. I made it home before he did! As he came in the door I had the biggest shit eating grin on my face. I didn't say a word and dad made sure I didn't by telling me to shut up before I did.

Good times.

BTW, my brother's in-laws own a cabin on Deep Creek Lake. I can recall hearing my brother's father-in-law saying something along the lines of "Almost heaven West Virginia, but then you enter heaven when you cross into Garret county.

Welcome I'm originally from the South hills area of PA but been in Ga for 25 years now.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
