New fellow from BC, with dreams of Africa

Welcome, I’m actually working on a plan for mountain goat in my future

Welcome. You live in a beautiful part of the World.

Welcome! That's a fine looking rifle. I hope to make it to BC someday!

Hello Decker9,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Love that rifle of yours, Beauty.
And British Columbia ya, God was in a very good mood when he created that part of the world.
Staggering beauty, not over-populated with people but with plenty of fish and wild animals for sure.

Mountain goats, one of the world’s finest game animals.
Hunting them is not for the faint of heart but what a prize.
And, although admittedly I’ve never taken one, I surely have eaten them so, I can honestly say that they are tip top table fare.

When you get around to it, have a look into the Khomas Safaris web site.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Welcome to AH!

Welcome Decker9! For sure you found the right place with AH. I assure you will not be disappointed with the support you will find here. That is a fine looking 458 your grandad built. I sure hope you make your maiden trip to Africa soon as I can’t wait to hear your story when you get back. Besides, the sooner you go the sooner you can go back!!
Welcome to AH

Probably the scariest time’s of my life have been hunting mountain goats lol, they really make a guy work for them, especially the old mature billys.

Did you by chance get to try goat liver? Theirs something magical about it. Long story short, the grass/feed that grows above timberline, is so full of nutrition, compared to feed that grows in lower elevations, a goat can live off of very minimal amounts throughout the winter months.

Now that liver, the filter, I have never felt an energy boost like I have after a feed of goat liver. Most folks don’t pack out the liver, I always say, “you shoot him in the liver you’re packing it out yourself haha”).

I poked around your site a bit, very intriguing!! I’m really hoping I can swing a trip over there in 2026/27.

G’day and welcome. BC is certainly beautiful. I’m currently in Smithers for a couple of days after my first hunt here.

Thank you R eight!!

What were you hunting? Smithers is a town I tell everyone they should visit, such a nice place. I’m a couple hours east of Smithers, otherwise I’d invite you for coffee!!

Hope you’re enjoying your trip!!

thanks mate . I’ve been hunting moose with Spartize. Had a great trip. I considered getting a goat tag as well…..just incase I filled the moose tag early. I filled it but, not early.

Scary ya, more people in Alaska (my home state) die while hunting mountain goat than while hunting any other species here.
Most slip and fall a long way down, to their demise.
Now and then we hear of one who did not bring proper clothing / equipment and simply became the victim of hypothermia.

Unfortunately no, I have not tried goat liver.
All Mt. Goat (and Dall Sheep) meat I’ve been fortunate enough to eat has been given to me by other hunters.
So far I’ve not received goat liver from anyone.

As liver goes, I am very fond of goose (duck as well) liver pâté.
Also, eland liver is IMO quite good.
Hopefully one day I will get the chance to try mountain goat liver.
I agree with you that what they eat is most likely the reason their liver is mild of flavor.

Cheers.

Congratulations on a fine bull!!

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
Big areas means BIG ELAND BULLS!!

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
