New dot sight on my Sako Brown Bear

I'm not particularly looking for an answer. Just throwing some observations into the discussion.

I have read of prescription eyeglass coatings causing issues and of the coatings that auto darken in the sun.

The issue that I have is astigmatism. I was made aware that I had it when I bought my first red dot. Apparently many people realize they have astigmatism with their first red dot.
I could not understand why the "dot" was not a round sphere to my eyes. It was perfectly round to my wife's eyes and to the camera that I took a picture of it with.

I believe EOTECH use to have a little write up on astigmatism and red dots on their website. You can have regular eye exams and still not be aware of it. But, you will certainly be aware with a red dot type.
The amount of distortion depends on the degree your eye / eyes are affected by it.

I really like the red dot or green dot concept. But without the ability to focus as on an illuminated scope, I am guessing at the center of the starburst blob that I see.
If I did not have the astigmatism, I would have several of the red dot / green dot optics for closer range use.

Theres a recent thread on my local "action shooters" forum where people note that the use of prescription glasses is causing weird effects with red dot sights. The dot is a galaxy or supernova, or whatever. I understood that the use of reading glasses is the worst. People didnt specify if they were using the dots on pistols or "long guns".

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
