New club starting, HA (Hoarders Anonymous)

Ah, 2015, we were called out as hoarders, now it is hey buddy, got any 215M’s you might be able to spare? Remember those good old days when you could walk in and grab a 8# jug of Varget or a powder you never tried, not because you couldn’t get your go to powder but because you just wanted to experiment? Or rolling naked in 50k rounds of 7.62.... Wait, I just went to far again didn’t I? Lol

Wish it was 2015 again?

My son will be able to support his family for several months as he sells the contents of my reloading room, which is how long he thinks it will take to sort through. Not planning on him needing to any time soon, so don't wait for the sale, lol. I did notice I'm getting low on those elusive primers when I cracked the last case of LRMs the other day. Having less than 10k of a given type makes me nervous. Loading for 25 or 26 different calibers and shooting over 30, I have no clue as to how many loaded rounds are floating around here. Not enough, I'm sure. I have started the design phase of another powder box, as the existing one has overflowed.
I always chuckle when LE raids some place and the news says they "seized an arsenal"; typically less than what would be found in my truck going anywhere to hunt.

My wife says she's going to give all my stuff away if I die--I told her it was my redneck 401k and she would be passing up $$ Besides, I am not a hoarder--my cousin was asked 8-9 yrs ago if he had gotten to 10k rounds of ammo--he said, "that's been in the rear view mirror for a while." Heck, I bet I've got less than 8K....hope no troll is turning these posts over to the ATF or something, though.

I'll start things off, Hi my names Jeff and I am a hoarder. I can't help myself, I've been buying ammo by the case for years, power by the keg, bullets by the 1000's and shot by the ton. It all started years ago before any of the recent shortages were even on anyone's mind, call it an obsession or what ever you will. I'm a firm believer in the premise that a man simply can not have too many bullets.
If anyone else would like to confess all and join the club the membership is open, who knows you might feel better.
YES i am a hoarder of reloading supplies & equipment & ammo, my wife thinks i should get some professional help, i just sneak it into my storage area now, often wonder what would happen if there was a fire:sneaky:

Just the other day, my brother said he would soon have 1,000 rounds custom loaded for his latest .270 acquisition. If he left his job and his family to twist in the wind. he still wouldn't have time to shoot a thousand rounds through that .270... :)

It is hard to imagine pre-pandemic when Midway and other places has 50+ types of factory ammo for each of the main calibers. I suspect that many of us will take this pandemic as an excuse to retain larger amounts of ammo than ever before. The curious question today for those that posted on this thread in 2015: is your ammo stockpile larger or smaller than in 2015?

The humorous part is that most of us, if we chose to shoot very limited practice rounds per year, already have enough ammo to last the rest of our hunting lives. Imagine a single box of ammo per year…

I have a heater/AC blower for a tractor I haven't owned for 24 years (and hadn't for 4 years when I got it). Do I qualify?

Some of us got the wakeup call when Clinton & company was pushing markers and shelf life limiters for powder back in the 90s. I pity the poor souls that had to start collecting under Obummer or the current Bidet. Trump gave us that are in the habit an opportunity to replenish during his term.

When I inherited my Grandpa's '06, it came with the box of ammo he had been using for the last 8 years he had hunted (up until he was 89, he passed at 96). He had told me how he had sat under the same tree every season for 2 decades and always got his buck, but had never shot anything bigger than a 3 point (those would be 8 points back east as most had brow tines). He also noted he never had to take a 2nd shot. That 20 year old box of ammo had 12 bullets left. I'll bet the box before took him 2 decades to shoot. Oh, and the price sticker on the box was $7.95.

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
