Hey,

Just thought I'd post a pic of my latest .300 Win Mag (y)
It's a Sauer S100 and I think it may just be the nicest factory rifle that I have ever purchased.
That's how highly I think of it...

What's funny is I had my heart all set on buying a Browning Hell's Canyon in .300WM, but as soon as I saw the Sauer in the rack it just caught my eye.
What's equally as funny is that this kind of styling doesn't usually appeal to me, but I don't know if it was the grain in the wood - or the price tag, something about this rifle just grabbed me.
Once I shouldered it the deal was done! It fit like a glove and the weight and balance felt just right.
I topped it off with a Zerotech 4.5-18x40 scope and I just love everything about this combo.

People who know me know that I usually don't like detachable magazines - especially polymer ones , but the detachable magazine on this rifle is sturdy and locks up tight. It's not easy to accidently drop the mag while in the field and it can still be top fed, which is how I load it, so I can live with this feature.

The trigger is simply superb. Very light with no creep... best factory trigger I've ever encountered.

Barrel is 24", I possibly maybe would've preferred 26", but I'm reaching the box velocity with the ammo I'm using so 24" is fine.

The stock looks great, recoil pad is on the thinner side but recoil even off the bench was fine, so once again it's no problem. With the scope fitted the rifle weighs 3.6kg or 8lb.

The ammunition that I'm using is plain old Winchester 180gn Powerpoint and in my rifle it is clocking 2962 fps - 2 fps faster than what the box says.
Accuracy with this ammo is really good, with 3 holes almost touching... and under an inch.

Feeding, extraction and ejection has been flawless and with the short bolt-lift it's fast to operate. And speaking of the bolt it is a 3 lug design and the smoothest I've ever used.

Even though the S100 is their budget line, I am just so, so impressed with this rifle. As I said earlier I think it is the nicest factory rifle that I've ever owned and if I have to be honest, I can't find a flaw with it.
And to make it even that little bit moar betterer... it's in .300 Win Mag.

If other Sauer S100's are like mine, then I highly recommend them. (y)

@Badboymelvin, very nice review of your new rifle, and congrats on a great purchase. I own a couple of the Classic 100XT's (6.5X55 Swede and 7mm Rem Mag), the 6.5x55 shoots extremely well with a variety of factory ammo, the 7mm a little pickier. I concur with you on the polymer magazines, no issues yet but wish they were metal. Your rifle looks like a great set up!

Can you take a photo of the bolthead? I'm curious to see how big the extractor is.

Sauer & Sohn is owned by L&O Holdings. The same company that owns Blaser, Mauser and SIG Sauer. I’m not surprised at the high quality of even their entry level offering.

@Badboymelvin - Congratulations on a beautiful and capable rifle. Like to see a pic of the first game you take with it.

Congratulations on such a fine rifle and a great performer. About a year ago, I traded into this Sauer 100 in 6.5 PRC from another AH member (my first Sauer and my first 6.5 PRC). Topped with a Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16x44, it is absolutely one of the best shooters in my collection. To say they are a fantastic entry level rifle would be an understatement for sure. Enjoy!

Mhmm, that's an interesting design. It has three lugs, but the extractor is on one of them. It's not nearly as small as a Rem 700 extractor, but it's not as big as an M16-style one. ( I think?)
It's cool to see, thanks for sharing!

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
