Neighbors

I’ve been very blessed living as rural as I am to only witness a couple of neighbour disputes one was a truck parked a crossed the end of a driveway while the owner partied across the road blocking a young man from being able to go fishing, levelling the bed of that truck off with a tractor bucket of cattle manure was the solution that time.
The other I witnessed as a young boy , a man and his son went to go in the woods one morning an found the road blocked by a truck, when asked to move the driver responded with a vulgar slur and proceeded to leave bird hunting. When he come back it was to find his truck had been winched up about 8 feet and then had a small section of chain Hooked from one tow hook over a limb and then to the other tow hook.

I believe you can buy foam ornamental rocks that are realistic enough to serve your purposes. Place them out and store them as needed.

Yep, like you we are lucky. Large gate structure then a half mile drive back to the house. Great field of fire as well
That's what we have! Don't worry about tbe German Shepherd, worry about wife with sniper tendencies;)

And the gear to back it up , what I’ve seen over the years of her collection is impressive.

This discussion reminded me of this meme I saw recently. :)

Man it really sucks for you guys who live in town!:cool:

We moved to our property in 1999, our closest neighbors were my in-laws 1/2 mile away. Then the surrounding farmers started selling off acreage piecemeal and now I have Neighbors, 5 to be exact within that half mile and two just across the property line screened by thick trees. I live in the county and they call the sheriffs office when a crop duster flys over or a cow moos. They really flip a biscuit when we dove shoot or heaven forbid I shoot a deer off of the back porch at 6:30AM!
The two closest are transplants from Illinois and New York. Why in the hell those slickers moved from up north to a mosquito and cottonmouth infested extreme south Alabama is beyond me!
Thank God I still have 70 acres behind the house to play on!

Would large decorative rocks look appropriate? They would be more immediate than shrubs and have the added advantage of causing damage to wayward vehicles.

Decorative boulders.
Maybe something like a split rail fence down the property line, all the way to the curb.
Decorative rocks/boulders would look good and should stop them from driving through. Expensive though, unless you happen to own an excavator. Shrubs would also work but requires time to establish and also constant maintenance and trimming. The split rail fence would look good and go up quickly. You could even do it yourself if so inclined.

On the other hand, 5-strand barbwire goes up quickly, relatively inexpensive, and nobody wants to drive their vehicle through it.

Punji sticks or Claymores. Go big right off the bat. Ooof. I know that is frustrating. Depending on where you live, shrubs could be a pin with initial cost and water requirements. I did do a hedge of viburnum (Texas) and that stuff was easy to establish and tough.

I'm with RR 314.

"Sometimes you got to kill one person early, to save killing four or five later." Marshal Virgil Cole, "Resolution", Robert B. Parker.

Sorry to hear of this my friend...

I would hope you still have sheriffs deputies that are local boys and can talk reason.

The mostly rural county i spent most of my life in could be pretty stupid about a lot of things and not always Ag friendly because of a couple old idiots on the board. But one old hog farmer got elected to the board and got a clause added to any and all permits issued outside of a city. It requires a statement to be signed acknowledging that it is farm country and things happen like smells, noises, dust, equipment on roads, etc. Certainly makes the Sheriff's job easier if they get a complaint call;)

Offer still good on the chihuahua !
This is what’s left of her latest run in with a cottonmouth.

I live in a bit over an acre of land, and next to my property I have a neighbor who is a great neighbor. However, him and his wife like to have get together, and he ropes off the property line, so people won't drive into our property and run the chance of damaging pipes or sprinkler heads. Well, his guests are either stupid, ignorant or just flat out inconsiderate. Last night he had a get together, he roped off the area, so they wouldn't drive through the yard since it had been raining for two solid days. Well, the stupid, ignorant and inconsiderate guests, opted by driving around the roped off area and through my front yard. :mad: I didn't notice this until this morning.

I sent him a text telling him I was not happy with the behavior of his guests, and that they had driven through my front yard. Risking damaging the water main, sprinkler pipes and sprinkler heads. I'm waiting on his reply.

I'm trying to figure out what to do. One solution I'm thinking of is to put some shrubs on the property line to keep the idiots off my yard. What are you gents thoughts?

When I lived in South Florida, there used to be a show called Help me Howard. You would write to him with your legal issues, and he would post the question on TV, with the legal advice on what to do. LOL!

Thanks for listening, I needed to vent.
@PARA45
You could always just shoot them.
But
I would see what your neighbour has to say and if he will fix your lawn.
Star pickets and barbed wire works well but may not be neighbour friendly

He called back and was very apologetic about what happened and had told his guest to not park on the yard. It seems like his friends cannot read and comprehend.

Yes, a fence would be a good fix, but they could still drive through my front yard. So, I am thinking about some type of bushes, or decorative plant to outline the property line and prevent these d*ck heads from driving on my yard.
@PARA45
Don't forget to put the road spikes in on your side after you plant then. That way if they run over your plant the will get the message
I know I'm a mean prick but I don't suffer fools nowadays.

@Hunt anything
Nothing a few cotton mouths in their beds won't fix. You could get a gator and put it in the yard for them. Dang I reckon even a fake gator in the stool would have them shitting bricks. Now that would be funny.
