Need advice on Hunting attire for Southern Cape hunt June 2020...how cold?

Those were my thoughts exactly once I looked at them. I always rub the material together with all of my hunting clothes and they were not ideal for a stalk in the bush. I decided to buy heavy duty carhartt pants in Khaki and Green (Safari/olive green in color) I think should be perfect when compared to what my PH wears in the field (in pictures and videos) and they are very quiet and comfortable for the long days of walking and hiking. I've been lucky enough to book the safari with Jason their lead PH who has quite the reputation and was recommended to me through a few people and we are now friends on Facebook and communicate through messenger which seems to be an easy way to get information or advice from him when I need it. The owner has been amazing getting back to me within 12 hours (with the time difference) of every email I have sent him. So far I've been very impressed with how great the communication has been with my outfitter Huntershill.

Another thing I need to ask them is if they have gun cleaning supplies on hand if needed like Solvent or even oil. I plan to bring a snake to keep the barrel as clean as I can but I do see it rains often in hunts in June. Thinking I may bring some individual packaged wipes. I really don;t want to have to bring a full cleaning kit for my Bergara 300 Win Mag. All I have in my pelican case I just cut specific for the trip is my rifle, sling, Bolt separated from my rifle , AI Mag separated, a backup Leupold scope and my preferred BOG Tactical Tri-pod shooting sticks rather than bringing a second rifle (hopefully that is the right decision). I'm so green to Africa that I have been doing a lot of research and see a lot of people bring their own cleaning gear. I tend to over pack for trips in the US, Canada and Mexico so I'm trying to pack light with the essentials since laundry is done daily. Bringing Binos and Range finder in my carry on pack.

Ok. Grab a beer, then another, now relax. Practice as usual, and a few days before leaving clean and following that with a couple/few rounds to make sure it's shooting as expected. Now pack the rifle. DO NOT clean it before packing. Show up with a normal barrel with a round or few through it. At your hunting area check zero at local range. Shooting as expected? If so (90% of the time)- good, shoot with confidence the whole hunt, stop there and don't overanalyze things. If not (10% at best), adjust accordingly.

You're probably going to overpack on the first trip, at least I did. On my last trip, I had one third of the stuff as the first.
As others have posted, layers, goose down jacket, light camo windbreaker/rain jacket with hood, warm socks and NOTHING that makes any noise whatsoever, including shoes and in some situations, hats. I wear a fleece cap for those early morning rides in the back of he truck. Also, if you're a camo junkie, in keeping with our fellow Africa hunters proud tradition of helping other people spend money, check and see if you can find a store that carries Sniper Africa camo gear. You can get it in all manners of clothing from t-shirts to pants and heavy winter jackets. I loaded up on it a while back. The pattern is native to RSA, or so I was told. Pic is a rain jacket/windbreaker in that pattern.

We hunted the eastern cape in late jun/july 2013. The coldest morning was in the upper 20's but the days warmed up quickly to the 50's. Bring a base layer, a fleece jacket and your rain jacket. In the morning put all three layers on and shed them as the day warms. and a fleece hat that pulls down over the ears and light gloves and you will be good to go. If you are also doing a night hunt say for bush pigs a additional fleece vest would be a good idea also. OD and Hunter green clothes will work fine. My PH said Camo was fine to bring but I would check with yours. a pair of good boots and quality socks. Then bring an adventurous spirit and enjoy every second. The first morning take a cup of coffee outside and close your eyes and listen for a few minutes, take a couple deep breaths and Africa will grab you and never let go. Have fun

Just make sure you wear the clothes you are going to take extensively before the trip.

Imagine that the perfect jacket you bought binds in the shoulders...or has several seams that poke at you.

Broken in clothes and gear that are comfortable make all the difference.

Oh, and please please please tell your outfitter: NO STARCH IN THE NIGHTLY LAUNDRY!
