Need a little help from a 404 Jeffery owner

PAC-NOR 26" #5 contour would be .700 at muzzle I think #4 would be little thin at .650.
Shawn
26" seems a bit long wouldn't a 24" save a bit of weight and be a little easier to maneuver in heavy brush?.

I remember as a young man seeing a long barreled rifle at a gun show. It had a price tag on it was more than the truck I was driving. I had forgot all about that rifle until I started this project now I think I want to make a rifle like it. I kinda get something in my head and I have to do it besides if I don't like it it's a good reason to make another. And that is all the reason I need. I have 1 more action in the closet it's a military action though missing a few parts. That rifle I saw had a quarter rib and a very large heavy front sight with a barrel band. I do not know who made that rifle wish I would have looked closer. It will be a couple weeks before I order the barrel so lots of time to change my mind.

In case your not watching my build in gunsmithing here's what I have been working on lately a 3 position safety out of the military shroud.

Seems to be progressing nicely Shawn

Ordered Pac-Nor barrel today 26" #5 contour 404 Jeffery 1 in 14 twist 8-10 weeks to deliver. What to do to kill the time?

I feel for you Brother, I waited 2 months for my 338-06 Barrel from Apache Arms, but it was worth the wait, I suppose you can start scrounging Bullets and Brass, are you installing open sights ?

At least front sight for now was thinking that since I was going with Tally QD I would go with their peep sight that mounts on the base. But I also think a quarter rib may be in the works.
Shawn

I have Talleys bases and qd scope with the aperture sight and like it just fine for my 6.5x57 .
