WHO WE ARE

Ndumo Hunting Safaris is a hunting outfitting company that specialises in hunting African dangerous game in the Caprivi region of Namibia.

We mostly operate on our own 3 hunting areas in the Caprivi, namely Bwabwata East, Sobbe conservancy and Sikunga conservancy, but to cater for specific needs outside of what we can offer in these 3 areas, we also occasionally offer hunts in the North -western concession areas of Namibia (Damaraland and Kaokoveld), as well as on private land in both Namibia and South Africa.

This gives the client peace of mind and secure knowledge as to where and with whom his/ her hunt will be conducted.

Ndumo Hunting Safaris is fully owned, managed & operated by Karl Stumpfe, a well-known and much respected professional hunter and hunting outfitter. Karl is assisted by another very capable and experienced dangerous game professional hunter, Fred Bezuidenhout, as well as young and upcoming professional hunter, Brian Roodt in conducting the hunts.

WHY NDUMO

We are in the unique position to offer the discerning hunter totally free range areas for dangerous game hunting (which includes elephant trophies that are exportable to the USA) in the Zambezi (Caprivi) region of Namibia, or plains game & leopard hunting on private land/conservancies in Namibia, as well as some of the best plains game & buffalo hunting available on private land in South Africa.”.

We are one of very few outfitters that truly specialise in dangerous game and can offer any or ALL of the Big Five in one unforgettable trip, with guaranteed memories that will last forever. We pride ourselves on our high-quality camps, comfortable accommodation, great food and exceptional hunting across all our concessions.

In Namibia’s Zambezi region, formerly known as the Caprivi Strip, we own and operate three hunting concessions, namely:

• Bwabwata East (inside Bwabwata National Park) • Sobbe Conservancy • Sikunga Conservancy

The bulk of our elephant, buffalo and leopard hunts are conducted on one of these concessions.

Bwabwata National Park

Bwabwata National Park is a relatively newly proclaimed park, in what is known as the Kavango and Zambezi regions of Namibia (Formerly known as the Caprivi Strip). There are two hunting areas in the park, both approximately 275 000 ha (670 000 acres) in size.

The Eastern hunting block is known as the Kwando Core area, or Bwabwata East and the Western block, is known as Buffalo core area.

full

It is home to some of the best elephant, buffalo, leopard and plains game populations left in Africa, with a very small hunting quota, ensuring exceptional trophy quality. In fact, 65 plus pound elephants and a 42 inch and bigger buffalo is not the exception, and if a hunter is fit, virtually assured.

The park extends from the Kavango River in the West, to the Kwando River in the East, with Angola to the North and Botswana and the Okavango Delta to the South. The split between the East and West blocks are at the Kavango/ Zambezi provincial border.

Ndumo Safaris is in the fortunate position to own the Eastern hunting block of this much-coveted Park, and offer exceptional elephant, buffalo or leopard safaris from our well-appointed camp on the banks of the Kwando river. The camp is built on wooden platforms, with canvas and reed walls and thatched roofs. All rooms have a view onto the Kwando river.

Bwabwata East is a hunting paradise, with the vegetation ranging from the swampy floodplains of the Kwando, to huge forestry areas consisting of camelthorn-, leadwood-, teak-, mahogany- and other big trees, to sections of cluster leaved Terminalia. Hunting is good from April to November in this area.

Sikunga Conservancy

Sikunga-top-image-1200x450.jpg

Sikunga Conservancy is home to our base camp, where we also offer fishing excursions on the Zambezi river, to hunters that finish their hunt early, or want to book a couple of leisure days before or after their safari. This camp is on the banks of a side channel of the Zambezi River, which also forms the North-Eastern border of the concession, and the international border between Namibia and Zambia. This camp consists of brick and mortar bungalows with thatched roofs.

full

Approximately 60% of the area consists of the Zambezi floodplains or open grasslands, with clumps of tree "islands", while the other part consists of cluster leaved Terminalia woodland. Most of the villages in this communal conservancy are located along the road into the camp, with a few cattle stations in the Terminalia thicket. This does not hamper the elephant movement though. Best time to hunt this area is mid-July to end October. There is a small quota of plains game available in this area, and in the mentioned period above, plenty of elephants will also be encountered.

Sobbe Conservancy

sobbe-top-image-1200x450.jpg

Sobbe conservancy consists mostly of mopane woodlands, with a belt of Camel thorn and cluster leaved Terminalia running through it. It is a dry area, and thus should be hunted in the wetter months for elephant and buffalo. Accommodation is in a recently revamped camp, consisting of bungalows with canvas and reed walls and thatched roofs.

As it is a communal conservancy, there are villages in the Northern part of the concession, but none in the core hunting area. Best times to hunt elephant in this area are February to early July and the last 2 weeks of November, and best times for buffalo are February to May and end November again, with plains game and leopard best hunted May to November. This area has a very healthy Roan population.

Read lots about the "Caprivi Strip". Fine looking places and trophies you have. I'd love to be able to go there some day!

Having been to all of Karl's camp and seen them also hunted with him it is a great outfit anyone that is looking for a dangerous game hunt should check the Caprivi out and you can't go wrong with Ndumo. I will be going back to hunt with him again!

Hello Doug,
I am Philippe from France and plan to go hunting Caprivi in 2026, Oct.
I have read on AH you had some time in Vic Falls after hunting. May I ask you with whom you have planned / organized the Chobe NP tour and the different visits. (with my GF we will have 4 days and 3 nights there)
Thank in advance, I will appreciate your response.
Merci
Philippe

Hi Walden. Good morning from England, Chris here (The Englishman!) from Croatia. Firstly it was a pleasure to meet you and Michelle - a fellow Sanderson! I have finally joined AH as I enjoy it very much. Glad you enjoyed the hunt and your write up which I read on AR was very good indeed. I am sending on WhatsApp pics from Bojan of some of the animals hunted recently. Take care and best regards. CS.
