NAMIBIA: We Are Back! Namibia Hunt With Elandpro Safaris

Glad to hear you made it home safe, and congrats on the eland. He's a beast!

Out with the shotty gun for some fowl.

Typical thick oryx bush. After a couple days of hunting this stuff for oryx, I told Gerrit I thought it was a waste of time. I got a sort odd look and the question, "what would you suggest"?o_O:rolleyes:

But then the next day on a slightly less hideous bush area, we did this. Its a young bull but my first of three oryx to be a male. We had made a stalk, with Gerrit climbing trees to see over the brush, tracking, trying to stay quiet (Impossible). This is not the bull he wanted me to shoot, the bigger one having gone into a thicket, this and one or two others were milling around, this one stepped out and stopped and stood for some time. Either I got impatient or just wanted to be done with it I am not sure but I took the shot I had, over 150 yards thru a hole in the bush and dropped this one. Its a bull, good enough.

Nathaniel got his first Pumba this trip. First shot missed the vitals, a short followup with the tracker Joseph near dusk, but they got it done before night fell and packed him out.

That bush up north is what I hunted first time. It will test you.
Nothing like Sekelbos to make your day.

Awesome Eland.

Great Eland. Congrats. Looks like you had a great trip with some nice animals. Love the drop in horns on the Black Wilderbeast. Congrats Bruce

Nate got his second springbok late in the hunt. He didn't feel shooting a wounded one was enough of a challenge. So to challenge himself apparently, he missed a standing broadside shot at this, but nailed it running when it got

farther away!

And my very first ever duiker! Apparently a pretty good one, with nearly 4" horns. Shot near dusk. The little buggers really came out just after sunset.

Looking like a good time was had! Congrats on the critters!

Great looking eland! Congrats!

Congrats on the entirety of your trip! Well done

Well that about sums it up. On this trip I shot more animals than the last two combined, which is not saying much, but over the course of now 8 safaris, to the countries hunted I already have most of what one would gather outside of the Big 5 stuff, and I am not one for just shooting the same critters over and over unless I can make a big improvement on one. I had 4 firsts on this trip. First bull eland, first black wildebeest, first duiker and first bull oryx. I really liked the main farm. Food was ably provided by Gerrits wife Makkie, didn't lose any weight on this trip! Our separate rooms were clean, cool and comfortable being brick built but appropriately furnished in African style, we felt right at home. Dinner every night over the fire in the lapa watching game come to the little water hole just outside camp is always fun. Windhoek Lager one night, Castle the next, Tafel after that. A shot or two of Jagermeister or Amarula with dinner..what's not to like? We had a great time, but as always its good to be home as well. But that eland bull,,, what a Monsta!!, and a long time coming.

I say, good show sestoppelman!

Nice report..........thanks...................love the hog and the black, too. Judging by that eland, they are truly Eland Pro's...............congrats to hunters and PH.................FWB

Congrats, Ses, you had a great hunt, with your son´s company, and shot very good animals, specially that eland !

Looks like a great trip. Congrats on your four firsts.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
