NAMIBIA: Namibia With Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris - Waterberg Plateau & Caprivi (August 2024)

What a first trip to Africa! Not sure how you could beat that! Congratulations!
Great report and welcome to AH!

Looks like you made a good choice on your outfitter for your first safari. The Waterberg and Caprivi are both very special places. Thank you for taking the time to write up your adventures.

Wow!
Helluva first Safari…Awesome & well written hunting report.
Welcome to the forum, great start!
That eland, haha…yeah, I know that satisfaction of earning him, spectacular trophy!
The Waterbury & Caprivi area in Namibia is truly a marvel area that I’ve heard so many hunters dream of, myself included…it’s on the bucket list.
It’s always nice to see another fellow from Texas & San Antonio. I was just in town, ate at the famous La Fonda on Main, enjoyed a jalapeño~cucumber top shelf margarita & damn good Mexican food. Back to work in Midland.
Thanks for joining and writing an excellent hunting report.

Man, I used to live 5 minutes from La Fonda on Main. I really miss that place! Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to answer what I can and hope you get out there sooner rather than later!

Great report! Congratulations on an amazing hunt.

As many others and you yourself found out, Namibia and the Waterberg are special places. Hunting buff and eland the way it should be done, on foot is truly the way to do it too. Some great animals and memories created! And a fantastic Lechwe.

Great hunt, congrats !

Thanks for sharing.

The recovery picture of the hippo in the water is amazing. At first glance it looked like an action shot and for some reason gave a terrifying perspective to a hippo! I am also from San Antonio and agree with you on the poor night sky experience we have in this area. Love to connect if your interested in swapping stories.
