NAMIBIA: Namibia Hunt At Eintracht Jagd Safaris July/Aug 2024

We headed back to the main farm area after 5 days of great action and success. Also a lot of good food and laughs. On the day we were driving back Oscar and PH Danie were out tracking Eland near the family farm. They covered over 30,000 steps per a fitbit tracking 2 bulls and had a few chances spoiled by wind, other animals, and bad luck. Then just before shooting time ended, and when they were about to call it a day, a bull was seen moving across an opening and Oscar got his chance. He shot the bull at approx 250 yards checking another animal off his list.

Mathew’s Phase 4. 29” draw and 61 lbs. I shot Easton axis 5mm carbon arrows with 150 grain 3 blade VPA broadheads. Total weight was around 480 grains. No issues with penetration. Complete pass throughs on the kudu and waterbuck.

The other bows were:

- 2012 Hoyt carbon matrix, 27” draw, 65 lbs, Easton fmj 340 arrows with a 50 gr brass insert, slick trick 125 gr broadhead

- Mathews Z7 30” draw, 70 lbs, slick trick magnum 100 gr broadhead

Bill left our group and headed to Natal for some more hunting and I stayed one more day. I hunted with Justin on my last day looking for his kudu. We saw a few small ones and one that was close to being a shooter. Justin and Pieter stalked in for a shot but decided to pass. Justin and Oscar stayed 1-2 days longer and targeted the last two animals on their list. Justin almost got a shot on a kudu near sunset the next day but the bull managed to get away. Oscar took a nice warthog completing his list. And then on the last morning Justin got his kudu! He had to rush to get his stuff packed and to the airport as they spotted the bull heading back to camp and had to make a stalk. It was a great way to end the hunt for him, making up for a bow clean miss a few days earlier.
