My most recent acquisition was a Winchester that had been converted into a 404 Jeffery. Plain straight grain wood, no engraving and a barrel from a maker that I'd never heard of, assembled by a guy named Randy. The previous owner had all of the work done and I purchased the rifle as is off Gunbroker. I ran several magazines full of dummy rounds through the gun without a hitch then mounted a relatively inexpensive Nikon Monarch 3 1-4x 20 scope and took it to the range. Before going any further I need to thank 375 Ruger Fan for finding it and frog stealer for building it. Von Gruff gets credit for the load. Shots were made at 50 yds. using a sandbag supporting my left hand which was firmly grasping the rifle and my shoulder. The first two shots are in the upper hole the third shot stands alone.

Great stuff!! Often less is more!!

So now the question is which one will you take on your next trip Africa bound. That one will killlllll

DAMN GOOD! What barrel manufacturer? Anyway, you're done. Now go kill something. :D

The barrel is a McGowan Precision, it has a target crown. I tried to take photos where some detail can be seen. Like I said outwardly she's just a "Plain Jane." Sorry, I don't own a camera with a wide angle lens.

Von Gruff, there is no clear cut way to decide which one to take. It might come down to the fact that I don't want a "jealous" rifle on my hands. The CZ already has one SCI Gold animal to its' credit and the new Winchester is a virgin. Following that thought I'd be obliged to take the Winchester. It's either that or flip a coin. I'm just happy to have the choice.

Are we thinking about DG in 2020???

Nice rifle, @Shootist43. Did it start life as a safari express in 375?

Custom, yes to both assumptions. This rifle is proof that this conversion is possible. It feeds and functions and shoots like a dream.

That rifle will certainly handle what you throw in front of it.
Congrats on your new toy meeting expectations.

Lovely rifle. Anything special to bed the action?

I like it! Perfect along with your 35 Whelen for a two gun Safari! 3-4 PG and 1 DG...PERFECTLY GRAND SAFARI!

Heck of a group, looks like a nice pick up!

Art I actually think the woood looks very nice

I like wood stocks, of any kind. And a great caliber. Good for you - this looks great.

Nice! I followed this one closely on Gun Broker and almost jumped into the bidding! Glad a fellow AH member bought it!

Saw a good looking knife you posted a pic of with the watermelon. Can I ask the make? Looks like you hunted with Guav Johnson? We overlapped in the Save once. Would like to hunt with him one day..
