Lloyd Chiswick of Classic Arms Co. out of CA. I was hoping someone that may have more knowledge might share any insight, thought's, etc. "Lee Griffiths" did an engraving, that name sounds familiar as well ..

Many thanks to anyone!

In my recent droolings over 505 Gibbs, really thought I’d seen that rifle, or very similar…and surprised my aging memory had me look over at Westley Richard’s pre-owned page. Same gun? There is a bit more of a write up there as well.

Don't know much about the rifle, but if it'll help you out, I'll give you 50 bucks for it! :D

That's as fine a 505 as a guy could ever expect to have. My only hesitation would be the double safety, I've never owned one, not sure I even know how they work. The fit and finish of the Classic Arms Co rifles I've seen are as good as anything anywhere.

What do you mean with “double safety” ?

If you go to the original listing on Westley Richards site they show in detail every aspect of the gun. It appears to have a usual mauser "flag" safety and also a tang "stalking" safety. I've never operated one so I don't even know how they work

This is not mine, however, @Wildwillalaska that is indeed the one.

The photos from WR, etc. appeared glossy, photoshopped a bit (like everything now). A simple pic off store lighting shed new light. @uplander01, pleased to hear the good about Classic Arms .. anyone's thoughts appreciated. Just a thought, it's a beaut, indeed.

Thank you.

Presumably the tang safety is merely trigger block but does not lock the bolt, similar to position two flag safety? That would be my guess.

@Daniel Cary that is a gorgeous rifle! And a lot of rifle for the money.

I read the WR description and I'm confused by the following: "The stock also features a horizontal peak shaped into the side of the rifle from the magazine to the hand of the grip; a difficult feature to do well and found on only the Best handmade guns. The stock's shape allows for easy use of the sights without having to bury your cheek into the comb and also has an open pistol grip shape which allows a bit more room for the knuckles."

I've studied the photos but I'm not sure what they're describing with the horizontal peak from magazine to hand of the grip, or what the purpose/function of that is. Are they saying that's the reason you can easily see the sights without burying cheek into comb? I don't see the "horizontal peak." Just rouses my curiosity and I'm wondering if you have any insight?

Looks like extended bottom metal and European style straight comb with cheekpiece. The stock design is nothing extraordinary that I can see. Marketing babble. Pffft. :D

You got me there, just as well, I appreciate your insight, however. Unless it's just expensive taste at 1st glance, I really can't tell what's well-built to the contrary .. more knowledgeable members here help.

The cost is nothing to sneeze at, there's just not much out there anymore. Even if you could find someone to try and replicate it, the replacement cost would be far out of reach.
