Another hammer gun on my want list!!
I only have a few hammer doubles, all bigger bores. I have a Rodda 4 bore, Holland & Holland 8 bore, and Holland & Holland howdah pistol in .577 Snyder (pretty sure that still counts eventhough it’s a pistol). All are Jones under lever guns and very fun. Have not gotten to hunt with them yet unfortunately but would like to do so.
Beautiful double rifle!! 9.3x72??How about a smaller one, a Scherping 9.3mm double View attachment 596383View attachment 596384
That is an amazing rifle!!@Themauserkid That is a real screamer...............I shot a 9.3x72 a few times. The 232 grain bullet at reasonable velocity was a pleasure to launch. totally jealous. Have several hammer guns............this is my fav..............FWB
They are my favorite for sure. I’m also partial to Sauer, nice to hear about one still being used!I have a Sauer double in 11.2x60r with a flip up aperture. It has accounted for several black bear for me over the years. The German and Austrian doubles are great rifles!
Enjoy your Scherping!
Magnificent!!!I’ll play…
Adams & Co, .577 BPE, 3” chamber. Extra front bead in the grip cap. Stalking safeties (hammers at 1/2 cocked, slide the safety forward to lock the hammers). It’s not a heavy gun at about 9 1/2 pounds, so full power loads will get your attention…maybe like a 12ga 3 1/2” magnum #4 turkey load out of a pump gun.
It’s gorgeous and I love it. Good guy, Cal Pappas set me up with some brass, bullets and dies and it’s been a hoot ever since. Woodleigh makes a 650gr soft specifically for the BPE. This rifle regulates nicely with full power loads at 50 yards.
