My first safari rifle

I have and have had many Win 70s in all the varieties but only experience with building one rifle on the Montana ‘99 action. I assume you are referring to the MRC action? The MRC is a good action. Very similar to the Win 70 with same trigger and safety designs. But the 99 does not have the bolt alignment, anti-bind design feature. IMO, that feature is a much underrated plus of the post-‘86, IIRC, M70s. Comparing the two actions, my personal preference remains with the late New Haven Win M70. If on the other hand you find a magnum length 99 action that would simplify any magnum build.
I found your last sentence for a good price to boot!

technical point of errata typo in my previous post. First year of Win 70 anti-bind was '68 not '86- doh! A design modification that began in the post '64 era and included the '68 to '92 push feeds. Of course it's a non-issue if looking at all post-64 Win 70 CRFs because they all will have the anti-bind design. I've always been surprised the anti-bind was not incorporated into the MRC 1999 from the get go. The story is that the '99 action was modeled after both the Mauser 98 and Win 70.

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
