My DSC notes from today

I put a deposit on one of their future litter puppies last month.
I started with one four years ago. Now I have 4 of those dogs. They are great at home and flat out go in the field!

Please take some pictures of their offerings! Should wash away the perimeter defense tower pictures :D
I’m kicking myself for not doing exactly that.. :( I don’t know what possessed me or didn’t possess me but I failed miserably in that respect…

Karl Hauptmann was there as well. Absolutely beautiful work.

Cost to get to SCI, stay a few days, and attend the show is outrageous. I wouldn't spend a fraction of that amount to hang out with a bunch of blue bloods personally.
Hahaha! Now tell us what you really think!

you might be surprised that most of the people that attend the shows and most that work the shows are not “blue bloods”. I’ve attended 3x and was surprised by how nice everyone was. And, if you like hunting, it is basically the largest hunting store in the world for a period of days.

My experience may be different that others, though, as I usually wear a tuxedo and I have a person following me with a bar cart and a folding chair.

I've been to SCI in Vegas 5 times, which is why I said what I said. SCI's ridiculous awards speak for themselves as to what kind of people it attracts. I'll take DSC any day.

Of course everyone is friendly to you, you have a bar cart. In fact, I am going to talk to my current friends and tell them such an assessory will be required to maintain our current friendship.

We will be there Sunday to meet up with Buzz Charlton who we are hunting with in 24 & 25, and to see if anyone has a Jeffery 450 No 2 for sale.

For those of you who have already been is anyone there selling powder? I assume not.

The DSC never fails to impress. Here are some photos from yesterday.

Thanks for sharing a few pictures @gcbailey ! much appreciated for those that cannot make it :)

I’m curious if the show has recovered to its pre-pandemic scope. Does anyone who attended then and now have a perspective?
There are fewer RSA PHs and outfitters than pre-Covid. It is still a very impressive spectacle and this year had a better "vibe" as the kids tend to say. A lot more people booking hunts this year than last, when folks still seemed to be cautious about traveling.

That Rigby DR with the elephant skin engraving was something else. Someone has interesting taste!

I think I stared at that new Rigby falling block for a good 5 minutes! Absolutely fantastic!

I should add that I personally "hate" DSC. It clearly promotes irresponsible behavior. I only went to visit with a few old friends - now I have hunts booked to Cameroon, Uganda, and Spain. My wife was supposed to chaperone and she bought a jungle adventure in Belize. I never knew I needed to hunt a Guenther's dik-dik until DSC linked it to my very identity as a person of the hunting community.

Fortunately the sky blind referenced above provided a safe respite to slowly rock back and forth and contemplate the world of Asian argali.

For those contemplating Africa for the 1st time (or 12 & 13 times), DSC is a great place to visit and talk to PHs, outfitters and probably most importantly, hunters who have been there and can talk from experience about everything not in the brochure. Hunting in Africa is awesome, and it is a lot easier and cheaper than most folks realize, so these shows really demystify the process. I personally prefer DSC and the show in Harrisburg PA to SCI, but SCI is absolutely full of "everything" and worth going as well.

I am envious to American friends.
We will never have in Europe, safari events of such scale and grandeur.
Well done.
hi Mark
jagdundhund show in Dortmund is in fact larger and when i did the shows more people attended

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
