My dream rifle is a

Don't base it solely on "need". I have zero "need" for my .375 Ruger here in Virginia, but I absolutely love it. I enjoy shooting it, as well as working up loads. I've also found out, using it on deer, you get virtually zero ruined meat. Just a neat 3/8" hole in and out.

Maybe find you a Ruger African in 9.3x62 ? It's legal for buffalo should you ever make it and a joy to shoot as well. Have fun with it, until you can have your double.
The 9.3 and 375 are nice for deer they don't damage much meat and still shoot pretty flat. When I was 12 me and dad built a 358norma mag on a 03 Springfield, had John van Patten bore the barrel out and a few other things. Great rifle shot great, it was for a elk hunt we were planning. Then my parents got divorced, I shot some deer with it. I would do a 375 if I did it today.

The .375 Ruger is a fantastic and efficient cartridge. With my 23" barrel, I've pushed a 300 grain to 2700, but it's not necessary to do so. My 20" ran 60-66 fps slower. My pet load that I will be taking for buffalo is 2595, and pressure is under 60k if the simulation is correct.

$800 would put you in a Hawkeye Alaskan.

Dont feel bad. Only double I have owned was one of those goofy Russian/Remington .45-70 Spartans with the silly little barrel bending jacking wheel ( jackwagon!) between the barrels for regulation.
I shot the heck out of it and it shot respectably well for what it was.
However I have never really bit the dust on having another double. Just not my thing I guess.
Sestoppelman, you may be the first person I have come across on here who doesn't want a double!

my buddy in Hawaii built a Browning A-bolt in 375 ruger he uses it for all the stuff there. Funny they have feral cows but has not shot one yet with the 375, he says it a pain packing all the meat to the truck. I have him a winch idea he may try lol.

I came so close to getting the ruger 280ai they made the one year I wanted it bad,i just couldn't get the money together then. A ruger in 375 would be fun. My lgs has a older ts m77 I almost got but it was a 458wm, I've got a 45-70 Siamese mauser to mess with. If it was a 375 I would have gotten it.

I know right it's almost weird he doesn't want one lol, guess someone recoil shy may not like one but they don't have to be big magnum.
Dont think I am any more recoil shy than most, its just not something I yearn for.

Here's a few what I think are nice rifles that I've got and some may like or think interesting, I don't have pictures of everything and my camera sucks.

I dont usually want a dream rifle for long, I find one and buy it! Right now getting close to pulling the trigger on another sort of dream rifle.
Model 1895 Winchester in .35 Winchester. Found some new brass, one box of new ammo, Redding sizing die and close to a rifle. My .35 Whelen seating die works for bullet seating with the .Winchester round.

Well, my dream rifle is currently still in prison in London, but soon I'll get to hold my Heym 88 double in .375H&H / 7x65r. :)

The fun thing about dream anything is that, usually upon accomplishment of that one goal, a new one pops up very quickly. I'm still dreaming about:
- a single shot (still evaluating choices, I like the lines of a Merkel K5, but open to suggestions)
- a proper big bore double in .470NE or .500NE
- a custom Mauser 98 bolt action in .416 Rigby or .458 Lott
- a best sxs 12ga shotgun perfectly tailored to myself (not a rifle I know)

I have been looking for a 86 35 Winchester I can afford for years. Seen I see the 33 a lot more. Some thing I like about the 35win in a 86 seems right. Think I have some brass somewhere.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
