Can't say much more than what's already been said but to wish you the best with your recovery. I know from experience that trying to do something to early can make one have a longer recovery period. Take it easy, listen to your docs and when feeling down, remember you're still on this side of the dirt.

Good day Everyone

Just wanted to give you all a report on how things are this side.

The last 21 days I have been spending time with hunting client and friend John van Oort from the US.
Each day had it's challenges but all went well. While John had a great hunt with PH Ruan Bester, I also had plenty time to rest and recover.

Today I visited the Dr's again. The wound in my upper R/H leg has been healing very well, we hope for another months treatment and it should be all good again.
My ribs are still broken and painful but that's something I have to live with for now.
My upper L/H leg has lost all feeling due to some nerve damage, hopefully that will come back one day.
I also went for another EKG today, my heart is still out of rhythm (Atrial Fibrillation) and I still have to take the medication to see whether it will get better or not. I have an appointment with the Cardiologist on Tuesday 28th.

I want to thank each and everyone who has prayed for me and made a donation towards my medical bills.
If it wasn't for you guys I have no idea where I would be at this stage.

My final medical bill up to now was R453194.40 / $31513.65
Through donations from AH and AR I have received a total of $23778.10. After clearing the bank in SA I got R332842.35
I have since made an arrangement with the hospital to make monthly payments for the remaining R120352.05

From the bottom of my heart I thank you all once again for the generous help you all provided for me.

Funny how everything has a way of working out sometimes. If that buff hadn't hit you, you might not have known about your heart problem until it was too late! Still a scary, painful, and expensive way of finding out. Anyhow, as you well know, things could've been a lot worse. Godspeed on your recovery.

Hi Bossie, I'm glad your on the road to recovery. Take it easy and keep the wound area very clean and dry. Any open wound in jungle (high humidly) conditions is hard to heal. One of the posts above mentioned that you may have A-Fib. This post also goes out to others who do have A-Fib as well. 95% of the time Drs. will put you on blood thinners such as Warfarin (Coumadin), Eliquis, Pradaxa, Savaysa or Xarelto. This is to help prevent blood clots by thinning the blood pumping thru your heart. This DOES NOT prevent or stop A-Fib. With us hunters that go out in the bush and are at high risk of cutting ourselves, we could be in real trouble if we cut ourselves. Your bleeding can and will be hard to stop. If you cut yourself real bad you can actually bleed out, whereas a person not taking blood thinners would be just fine. Especially, if your way back in the bush! There are procedures that will correct A-Fib and I'm providing you a link to the Mayo Clinic:

Check out Catheter ablation. This treatment has gone a long ways to correcting A-Fib. and once corrected you maybe able to get off Blood Thinners. Obviously, you need to talk to your Dr. and discuss your options.
