My Covid vaccination experience

Got my first shot Friday. So far all seems good.

Don't know about other places, but in Montana, around 642K have had at least one shot, and 107K had the disease. So, if you eliminate kids, who don't get sick, therefore don't get tested, we're close to herd. And the few cases we have are not resulting in many deaths. And we were solidly for Trump, and filled the state houses with Republicans in 2020. So, at least here, the idea that Rs aren't taking the vaccine is fake news. How would they know who's not taking something?

Stanford University just released a study through the National Center for Biotechnical Information (NCBI) that is pretty definitive concerning the facemask lunacy. Apparently, posting a link to it is enough to get people suspended from several of the social media sites.

The NCBI study begins with the following abstract:

Many countries across the globe utilized medical and non-medical facemasks as non-pharmaceutical intervention for reducing the transmission and infectivity of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). Although, scientific evidence supporting facemasks’ efficacy is lacking, adverse physiological, psychological and health effects are established. Is has been hypothesized that facemasks have compromised safety and efficacy profile and should be avoided from use. The current article comprehensively summarizes scientific evidences with respect to wearing facemasks in the COVID-19 era, providing prosper information for public health and decisions making.

The study concludes (emphasis added):

The existing scientific evidences challenge the safety and efficacy of wearing facemask as preventive intervention for COVID-19. The data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks. Wearing facemasks has been demonstrated to have substantial adverse physiological and psychological effects. These include hypoxia, hypercapnia, shortness of breath, increased acidity and toxicity, activation of fear and stress response, rise in stress hormones, immunosuppression, fatigue, headaches, decline in cognitive performance, predisposition for viral and infectious illnesses, chronic stress, anxiety and depression. Long-term consequences of wearing facemask can cause health deterioration, developing and progression of chronic diseases and premature death. Governments, policy makers and health organizations should utilize prosper and scientific evidence-based approach with respect to wearing facemasks, when the latter is considered as preventive intervention for public health.

Clearly, the reasoning behind maintaining the mask charade is truly political rather than "scientific." Following the science would allow people to quickly get back to normal. It would undermine the progressive political strategy of cloaking a socialist spending and democrat party enhancing governmental revolution in pandemic hysteria. It is unlikely they would be able to maintain any legislative momentum if their acolytes suddenly realized wearing the badge of virtue was useless - much less that they may have been played for the last year plus.

Social and MSM will do everything in their considerable power to insure this study never sees the light of day.

Received 2nd shot of Moderna this morning. Feel very sleepy and very sensitive to light. I felt I need a sunglass inside the home. The rest is so far so good. Will report tomorrow.
Next day i.e., Sunday was horrible. High temperature and body aches almost does not want to move. Each movements is excruciating and no appetite to eat. Tylenol help a little bit. Woke up Monday morning and the high temperature is gone and pain subside. Will stay home today to rest.

When I was in elementary school we got small pox vaccinations. the serum was dabbed on our arms then a small piece of glass (looked like) scratched it into our skin. Reactions varied. some kids had virtually so sign of the "shot" while others developed a puffy scab nearly an inch in diameter. The nurse said that those with the biggest reaction were those that would have suffered the most if they had gotten small pox.
Possibly it is the same with the covid vaccinations, those that have the biggest reactions are those that benefit the most from it because they would be the most adversely affected by the virus. If so, those of you that had sever reactions, take heart, getting the virus would have really been bad for you.

And here is a study from John Hopkins that says masks do work-

Believe what you want-I have personally worn a mask for 48 straight hours except for meals with non discernible negative effects and although I dealt with over 100 covid positive patients over the last year in tight quarters-and I never got it. Tell your surgeon next time to go ahead and do your procedure that they have no reason to wear a mask-show him that study. I’ll bet you they go ahead and wear one. On that there google machine you can prove anything-hunting works for conservation or it doesn’t or whatever. Control of droplet spread is a good thing. . .

Yah I mentioned that to the nurse giving me the shot, she said no worries. I think the overall story here is if you had it already, your body is already programmed to respond to it and it happens quicker. Hell if I know, I'm just a dumb engineer.

@whitetail, any truth to that?

Yep buddy- you’re exactly right. Your memory T cells as well as your T helper 2 cells (CD4+) are already primed for the specific viral pathogen and since you had only recovered from it a few months previously, your immune system was still amped up for re-exposure.

While I hate wearing masks, it is just common sense that they diffuse your breath instead of your breath droplets going straight into the nose and mouth of another person. Masks don’t seal enough to protect you from all droplets but they do diffuse your breath and droplets.

My uncle got COVID from a clerk across a counter at a lumberyard. He was paying his lumber invoice and they only spoke for a couple minutes face to face. His case was traced to that clerk. Neither were wearing masks.

I’m looking forward to herd immunity so we can stop the mask wearing!!

I am all for stopping every bacterial pathogen my surgeon possibly can. I trust he will wash his hands as well.

However, I am immunized. The root of that word is immune. And to paraphrase the good governor of Florida, I am embracing living like I am.

Received the J and J vaccine....6 weeks ago.....0 issues after the shot. Now, not so sure. Shortness of breath and low red cell count with anemia....hmmm. Showed up 18 days after vaccination.

Very sorry to hear that. I hope the docs get you sorted quickly.

Hope you are feeling better. but, best to follow up with your doctor to see if this is related or something else just coincidentally timed.

Got my first Moderna anti Chicom Bioweapon shot 16 March. A little soreness to the touch for a couple days, otherwise all is normal.

First Moderna shot, no big deal, usual light sore shoulder from an immunization. Got the second in the morning and nothing the whole day. But that night I got light chills and sweats which I expected for an immune system reaction. Then came the head ache. Wow, that was mean, all night long. Add a bit of nausea and I happily called in sick the next day and slept in. Slept hard in the morning and cleared up totally by noon the day after the shot.

Got my second Pfizer yesterday. Same with first - sore arm, and that was it. Thru a GA mass-vax site again, really quick and efficient. Thank you Gov Kemp, GA ARNG, and GA EMA!

Wheels up Sat (24th) for my 3rd trip to SA with any luck.

Moderna about a month ago. Sore shoulder for a couple of days. Other than that no other side effects.

Got the Astrazeneca shot today. I fully expected to be sick and have to cancel some depositions tomorrow. Much to my chagrin I seem to be fine. Who knows, the night is young and I may develop a headache...
