My Covid vaccination experience

I scheduled for the first of 2 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination shots tomorrow. My wife had both shots by February as she's in the medical field and therefore "Priority". I'm hoping all goes well.

Regarding the possibility of having to have proof of vaccination before travel: what's the big deal?
Didn't we all have to have proof of anti-malarial before traveling to Africa? Both my wife and I got yellow fever, anti-malarial and hepatitis shots but what I can't recall is if it was absolutely required. It might have depended on where you were coming from or just recommended as prudent.

On the proof of vaccination, I read a article the other day where it said that the government is looking at a "vaccine passport" for us that are vaccinated.

The problem is that it didn't go into much detail on what it will entail, just that they were looking at it.

As for proof, it will depend on what the country that you are traveling to is willing to accept. I know that all I got for my two shots was a CDC card where I filled in my own name and date of birth. It did have two stickers on it with the dates that I got the vaccine.

I have not taken the vaccine yet - Not eligible by age or underlying condition. I probably will as soon as it becomes available to me. My biggest issue is that no country yet is using proof of vaccine as an entry requirement. They are still requiring proof of negative Covid tests. So it seems a bit pointless as it relates to travel.

It’s interesting that not too many members picked up on your message.
I have read that people have foolishly assumed that they could fly having proof of vaccination. They lost the fly ticket, because so far, the only thing accepted by everybody is a Negative PCR test obtained within the last 72 hours prior to the flight.

I would be interested to find out if any member has had first hand experience with any concrete travel benefit derived from having the proof of vaccination.

Not yet (unless you are going to Australia or New Zealand on Qantas), but I would wager a good scotch it is coming.

You can go to Iceland with proof of vaccinations or proof of having covid.

The only benefit so far seems to be, some countries will let you forgo there requirements for quarantine, which in most cases is 14 days.

Interesting. Do the airlines taking you there and back use the vaccination to board or do you still need proof of negative test? I do believe the day may be coming where the vaccination card is all you need, but we are a long ways away today.

I think it will come to a proof of covid vaccine as a substitute.

My wife is a nurse who does the pre-surgical screening at her hospital. The policy had been that you had to have a negative covid test within 7 days and they did the test. It has just been changed to add proof of having had covid or having both shots more than 30 days ago. I may be off on the number of days. Emergency surgeries are, as you might expect, excluded from the test protocol.

When covid first hit, the state said they could only do emergency surgeries. It almost bankrupted the hospital.

It is Icelandair where I found the info. You do not need a covid test if you have proof of vaccination or disease. This is for Iceland only and you can't go on to other countries.

My wife got both Pfizer shots last month so is well past the waiting period. I got my second Pfizer shot last Thursday so I have a few weeks to go. I put the card with my shot record (malaria, typhoid, yellow fever, etc) with my passport. Just one more thing to show the officer at the counter.

At the same time, the international veterinary passport, as far as I know, is quite valid in different countries. True, my dogs had to insert the chip under the skin, and we humans have not yet reached this point, but it is only a matter of time. In any case, a scanner for reading chips at all customs offices is already available, so there will be no problems when covid-passports are introduced (I think the chips are already in the vaccine).

The beginning of the Borg? "Resistance is futile"

Please tell me you are joking and don't actually believe that.

I got my first stab today at a mass vax site here in Georgia (Pfizer). Scheduled for second stab on 19 April. My flight leaves for JNB on 24 April and I plan to be on it (with a required neg PCR test).

So far so good.

I will say that the mass vax site here was very well organized and efficient. Didn't even leave the truck, was in and out in 10 mins. Even scheduled my second jab while in the drive-thru.

There was a waiting area for those who wanted to wait the 15 mins for signs of an adverse reaction, but I was given a choice and since I was meeting a buddy across the street for coffee afterwards I felt safe leaving in a few minutes.

It did feel overwhelmingly dystopian to drive into a well-marked area run by the GA Army National Guard GA EMA with white tents for a mass vaccination.

Just scheduled my appointment.

May 10th is the soonest.

I know Tucson is always behind the times....but 6 weeks out.....really?

Just got my first Moderna COVID shot at noon today. I go back in 28 days for shot #2.

With all the talk about whether vaccination will be required to fly or be accepted in lieu of a test, I just heard today that Rutgers University in New Jersey will require ALL students who will be on campus to be vaccinated. Medical or religion reasons are the only exceptions.

Ha, did you suspect something? And they say that Americans are gullible.
Here we have the Mufti supreme vaccinated with a peptide vaccine, and not the most popular. So that, they say, there were no animal parts. So that something not halal doesn't get into the pure blood. After all, human society (regardless of the country) lives partly in the Middle Ages.
I constantly look at the statistics, in Moscow, 50 people die steadily a day. What did these people think? They could have been vaccinated for several months, and a month ago, there are vaccination points in supermarkets. But they chose to die. I do not understand.

Oh but we can be very gullible.

The big conspiracy theory for the internet connected tin foil hat brigades is that the new mRNA based vaccines will kill nearly everyone who has taken one when next exposed to a different variant of the Covid virus. Because it is rather obviously not in the Pharmaceutical companies' future financial interests to kill off it customers, the initial wild-eyed claims didn't even pass the common sense test. However, the conspiracy has deepened to be a deliberate effort by wealthy globalists to kill off 90% of the world's population in order to create a new green nirvana. Nobody has yet explained just how the world would continue to function for these wealthy survivors (little things like food production and distribution) or just how the rich would remain rich in a globally destroyed economy. I am struggling trying to imagine Bill Gates shooting a deer for the kitchen or lighting all those candles in his mansion. But there are people who genuinely believe this is happening around them.

For a take on this, read Deon Meyer's novel "Fever" or "Koors" in Afrikaans.

Had pretty much the same experience here today when I got mine at 6 Flags Maryland. They must be doing 500 people per hour. I was in and out in 30 minutes; never left the truck.

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.

Have twice tried to post something that your site canned as "SPAM" or some problem.. "Contact the Administrator"... Not sure why even the "Contact" button would not send my comment so you only received my query but not the content in question. I'll see if I can get it to you this way... NOPE I use a VPN and perhaps that is causing me grief...
