More BS....
Just ask Mr. SafariKIDD here on the Forums... I venture to guess he killed more game than you have seen.... you really have a little gun or penis problem, not sure what it is but maybe both. The 600 OK is just a tool in the toolbox it is not the end all to be all it is a tool and in the right build and hands gets the job done.... and yes, we build many 600s, 577s and losts of 500A2's and 550s.... just little big bore bolt guns at that point

He has hunted some of the biggest, baddest stuff on the planet and pictures to prove it... damn ass great hunter that has hunted worldwide. He is owner of his own business and hunts more than 99% of the people I know including myself and I take off October to Jan. to hunt! He is a great guy, he has had multiple 600 Overkills in his rifle stable..

????? Much more managed than a DR in 500 NE what does that mean???????
500NE is easy to shoot with the right stance. Same goes for the 600 Nitro or 600 Overkill. Just roll into it and let the recoil do its job. I have shot lots of 500 NE's and found that the 600 OK or 600 Nitro is no worse. Depends on weight of the rifle and your standing stance. I have never shot them off of shooting sticks always a standing position.

Get a 600 OK....you will be sorted.....

I’m getting a recoil induced migraine just reading this thread!
LOL yeah, can't reason with some folks. The 600 OK is just a damn good tool in the toolbox..... I did not build mine to "have the biggest" or a bragging right, I built and use it because I know what it takes to down some badass shit that wants to crush, tear, eat or shred you... the 600 is just an insurance policy when it all goes bad. That and it is a real hoot to shoot! It really is a well balanced weapon. I have seen some 600s that are totally unmanaged.... I like mine mid-range weight and mid-range length under 25" barrels down to 20" --- the 600 with 825 grain bullets actually shoot about equal on par with my 458 Lott at 7.0 lbs. the 600 OK is about 13 lbs

I’m still looking for 600gr .458s! Forrest Halley hasn’t responded. Have you seen any? I’ve already been sorted out completely by this thread!

I built my ok over a decade ago and it has never made it to africa and chances are never will with me anyway as my shot clock is running out. It has made it out of the country and with one well placed 1000 grain pre segmented bore riding hot welded lead core stopped my guide from becoming a bowel movement of a 1000+ pound hairy dumptruck.

For me, and I always say it, " especially with dangerous game go packing for what you "might" run into before it runs into you".

My 577 went to africa and russia. It fired 4 bullets and flattened 4 dangerous animals.

From there on down to a 458wm many rifles went many places and when fired hit and killed every animal they were aimed at with only two dangerous animals that needed an additional shot to assure that they weren't gonna run off.

So why such big powerful guns that so few would even consider shooting let alone buying?

One......they are ultimate stoppers........ not just killers or worse yet wounders or slow killers. There is really no fantasy of quick follow up shots or multiple hits hit to get the job done. One and done on a proper shot.

OK, since it’s still to damn hot out here to mow the lawn on my DAY OFF from work, I’ll stir the larger than life bore and recoil cauldron. Why is the .600 OK a better, more suitable choice in a bolt action rifle than say, the .500 MDM or .458 MDM or B & M class of wildcats which use shorter barrels and have velocities equal to their longer competitors’ cartridges? Or, even the mainstays .500 Jeffrey or .505 Gibbs? When does larger and larger become an exercise in diminishing returns? Don’t get me wrong here, I would love to shoot all of the above at least once, but have no desire or hunting use for owning one. But again, to each their own.

Id build one but hate that stupid name.

.600 belted magnum I could live with, .600 “Overkill” just sounds like a flog lol.

Other than that I’d just treat it like the 404 was to the .400 - Match the ballistics of the .600 nitro and then have the gun slightly lighter.

I know better than to venture where chest waders are required attire and cranberries or duck hunting isn't involved.
I go to 500 grains in the Lott and I'm feeling the love. I'm not aware of any 600 grain .458 bullets, but I am also not seeking them either. 400's and 500's for me and I'm happy.

The dinosaurs are expected to make a return oneday...Do you know a good orthopedic surgeon??!! To each, their own. Even some famous PHs gave up hunting w/ the .600. I imagine it's a great PH stopping gun, in capable hands.

But, there's always the hunting devotees that become one with the Swinging Trunk Club..."Bigger Is Better." What provides sufficient energy and penetration, accurately, works for most of us! I'd far rather have my .416 (or .375/.458) when a 72" kudu miraculously appears at 250 yds during a buff hunt!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)
