My .458WM project is finished!

What I like about the look is the shorter fore end looks right with the shorter barrel. I hate the look of a short barrel and loooong fore end! Velocity loss is more about powder choice and bore size than barrel length anyway. I like this.

I agree. When I had the barrel shortened I insited that the fore end be shortened too. I shortened it as much as I could, cut it right back to the end of the checkering and then had the buffalo horn tip fitted.
I also believe shortening both barrel and forend is why it points so well without feeling unbalanced.
I also agree with you about powder choice and bore size.
